"Dadi, I need to tell you something," I spoke up, taking everyone's attention at the dining table where everyone sat, including Dad , whom mom called after yesterday's incident.

"Alright , go ahead," dadi encouraged.

"I've made a decision," I declared, pausing for emphasis before continuing, "and that is, from now on, Mom will be staying on a different floor from the rest of us and she will stay there completely and won't come here unless and untill she is called or necessary."

"What on earth! Have you lost your mind? I am not moving to another floor. This is stupid"Before Dadi or anyone else could respond, Mom cut in, her voice sharp and cutting through the quiet,

"Fine then, I'll leave this house. You decide what you want," I shrugged, feeling the weight of the moment settle over us all.

"Ooh, so your wife taught you this too," Mom spat out, prompting me to slam my fist on the table as I shouted, "Behave, Mrs. Shivani Malhotra, when you talk about my wife."

"Calm down Kabir, you can't make such a big decision just because Shivani asked Aadhira to cook. It wasn't her fault; she didn't know that Aadhira doesn't like non-veg," Dad chimed in, coming to Mom's defense.

"Ooh, so your wife told you," I replied leaning back on my chair before continuing,"Since your wife is too good at spinning tales, making herself out to be the victim, I suggest you find out more before taking her side. Just a heads-up so you won't regret it," I stated , looking striaght into the eyes of dad.

"Alright , I understand. Let's talk before deciding anything," Dad said, his voice calming down as he saw Mom's changing expressions, making him suspicious.

"Talk with whoever you want, I don't care. But I've had enough, and I can't risk my wife's safety anymore. What happened yesterday was the last straw. I want to ensure nothing like that ever happens again when she comes back here. So, it would be best if you could convince your wife to change the floor, or I'm okay with moving to another place to ensure my wife's safety in my absence," I stated firmly before standing up, leaving no room for further discussion because that was final.

"Yep, coming," I replied to Veena aunty while putting on my watch and glancing at it, showing 7:00 AM, as she called me for breakfast.

Early, isn't it? I know, right! I woke up at 4 today, or should I say I didn't actually sleep properly last night because of which I got dark circles as well.

I kept tossing and turning in bed all night until I finally fell asleep at 1, only to wake up again at 3, feeling the emptiness beside me.

Unable to sleep after that, I decided to finish my office work and then hit the gym for an hour. I even tried meditation and everything to pass the time. By the time breakfast came around, I got ready to join everyone.

Amidst all this, I kept checking my phone, hoping for a message or call from her, only to find nothing. I would set it aside, planning to check it again in another 15 minutes.

"Good morning everyone," I greeted Dadi as I sat at the dining table. Kiaan came running from the front, taking the seat Dad usually occupied as he was out for a walk, and Mom was notably absent from breakfast after yesterday's incident, but I paid it no mind.

"Good morning, beta. Come, have breakfast," Dadi said, patting the seat beside her. Kiaan swiftly claimed the seat, prompting an eye roll from me and a headshake from Dadi at his playful behavior.
