"Good morning, my birthday girl," he murmured in his sleepy voice, stretching his arms and revealing his deliciously bare chest.
His groggy tone was the biggest turn-on for me, a feeling I discovered after our first time together.
Every time he spoke like this, I felt something stirring inside me, and my mind flooded with all those wild thoughts I had.
"Good morning, patidev," I replied, pressing soft kisses against his chest. He wrapped his arms around my bare waist, pulling me closer to him.
A rush of heat spread through my entire body as he gazed at me with such love in his eyes, making the moment feel even more intense and magical .
I swear this is the best morning ever, and from now on, I want to wake up like this every single time, especially on my birthday.
"C'mon, get up," I said, planting a gentle kiss on his lips. But before I could pull away, he held me tightly, shifting positions and hovering over me. He captured my lips in a kiss while his hands slipped under my skirt, trailing kisses along my neck and collarbones.
A slow moan escaped my lips when suddenly, there was a knock at the door, startling me. I pushed him away instinctively, making him grumble in protest as he groaned in frustration while answering the person without getting up.
"Get up, we'll be late," I whispered, and he sighed in defeat, resting his head in the crook of my neck giving me butterflies instantly while he noded at my words.
"Kabirr..." I called out his name softly, getting up after a moment , leaning back against the headboard while I continued to stroke his hair gently.
He hummed contentedly, burying his face deeper into my stomach, making me giggle from the ticklish sensation.
"Can I ask you for a birthday gift? Just one more?" I bit my inner lip, waiting for his reaction as he suddenly pulled his face away from my stomach, frowning at my question.
"What?" he asked, his confusion clear.
"Umm... I actually wanted to celebrate my birthday with everyone." I replied softly.
"Aadhira, but-" Before he could finish, I pressed my fingers against his lips, continuing, "I know what you're going to say, but Kabir, I really want to celebrate it with everyone. Even if not for Mom, at least for Dad, who has spent almost his entire life providing for you and Kiaan. He's still living alone while paying for something he didn't even do. I know Mom was wrong; she definitely was. But finally, she is regretting her mistake. She has realized what she did was very wrong."
"Those everyday letters that you find at our doorstep, the ones you pick up before I wake up and hide in the drawer with the hope of reading them all one day-do you really think I don't notice them? Kabir, Mom is trying. She's trying to earn your forgiveness. I know nothing can bring back your childhood, those beautiful years that could have been the best part of your life, but they weren't because of her."
"And nothing can change that fact. That's why I'm not asking you to forgive her; I'm just asking you to give this a chance for the sake of those who weren't responsible for all this. Especially for Dadi, whom we haven't even seen in the past month. Do you think it's fair to her?"
She paused for a moment as he sat up straight, and when she held his hand, she continued, "Kabir, I'm not trying to force you. I would never do that. I just want you to live a life free from regret because I understand your feelings too. I can't bring myself to forgive my father either, but at least I can let him feel the weight of his mistakes if he truly wants to change, right?"
