Happy Reading:)
AADHIRA'S POVI was in my room when papa arrived, and like always, he was completely disinterested in seeing or meeting me. As soon as he came, the first thing he asked me when I went to give him water was about Shivani Anty and Kabir, as if I wasn't his daughter whom he was seeing after months. But it's okay, I am not sad afterall I am used to it.
Because the man who didn't even think of asking his daughter's consent before getting her married to someone, then what else can I expect from him? A sad smile came on my lips as I told him where Shivani Anty and everyone else was, and he went to meet them without even asking for once how I have been these days.
Sighing helplessly, I shrugged away my thoughts, making my way to my room , to divert my mind.
After a few minutes, Shivani aunty called me in her room, to tell me , oh sorry , to command me that there would be butter chicken in today's dinner.
Just hearing that made my stomach churn, as I am a vegetarian and really dislike non-veg. Even the sight of it makes me feel queasy. I don't judge anyone's choice, but that's just how it affects me.
[There is no offense to any non vegetarian, it's just a fiction take it like that only]
The worst part was yet to come as she mentioned that the butter chicken would be cooked by me, and before I could deny or make any other excuse, the situation seemed to have taken a turn for the worse as she replied, that she will guide me , so there would be no escape or I can't even ask the cook to make it.
I opened my mouth to deny or come up with any other reason but before that my own father glared at me and said to me in a harsh tone, gritting his teeth, "Don't you have even the slightest manners? Is this what your mom has taught you? She is your mother-in-law, just do as she says." Once again, I felt like a pawn in their hands. I wanted to shout, to fight at that moment, but I knew it would only worsen the situation, and revealing my strained relationship with my father to everyone in the house was something I couldn't afford.
Deciding to cook the dinner but not eat it since veg food would be prepared for dadi, I tried to lift my spirits and began cutting veggies. Just then, I heard Kabir's voice. I wanted to meet him, to run into his arms and confide in him so he could help me out, but before I could reach him, Mom literally stood in front of me, hindering any chance of talking to him properly.
But the moment, my gaze fell upon the golgappas he bought for me, my eyes shined with happiness. I forgot everything else at that moment because I had been craving them for so long, but that grumpy man didn't let me have them at that time.
But now, all I wanted to do was hug him tightly and pull his cheeks for getting me those tasty golgappas.
As I took one in my mouth and the explosion of spices filled my senses, I was on cloud nine. Enjoying them and satisfying my craving, I headed to the kitchen to cook the butter chicken.
However, now that my stomach was full, just the sight of it made me feel queasy. Despite that, I managed to cook somehow , wrapping a scarf around my face.
I sat at the dining table, sighing in relief, my head was spinning, and when mom called everyone for dinner, I felt like I was about to be sick.
As mom and dad settled down for dinner, dadi had to leave abruptly as a lady from their satsang group passed away, and Kiaan went to drop her off since it wasn't safe to leave her alone in this situation.
