The air in my cabin was thick with the weight of the project.  My team and I were deep in the details, dissecting every aspect, when my phone buzzed with a familiar, distinct chime. It was Ira, my wife.  I knew it was her before even looking, thanks to the special notification I'd set just for her messages.

A quick glance at the screen confirmed my suspicions.  I smiled, a wave of warmth washing over me.  I'd planned to reply after wrapping up the discussion, but the urge to see what she had to say was growing stronger with each passing second.

Then, my phone buzzed again.  My curiosity spiked,  "What could it be?" I wondered, "Why is she texting me so much?"

The more I tried to concentrate on the meeting , the more my mind kept going back to her messages. Finally after a wait of 15 minutes that felt more like a eternity, the meeting came to an end making me sigh in relief as I leaned back on my chair closing my eyes , feeling the weight of exhaustion.

Hii

Kabir...

Patidev?

An instant smile broke onto my face as I read the message , her words making me smile instantly.

"Yes , My patnidevi"
I replied while waiting for her to exactly reveal what's on her mind now.

"I need to tell you something imp"
Don't tell me she is pregnant again because when she texts like this , it means trouble, a big one.

What?
Keeping a hand at my heart , I asked to know what happened now!

I need to meet him

"Who?"

Him ... I told you yesterday

No not please wifey, not him please!

But why?
(I asked)

Coz it's really important!

No it's not , you are the one making it look like important!

I am not , I just can't leave him

But why? Why can't you just leave him? Tell me where I'm lacking?

I asked, feeling a whirlwind of emotions—anger, jealousy, betrayal—each one swirling inside me, hard to identify. Whatever it was, I just couldn't bear to see this happening.

It's not about you , it's about me Kabir , you know that

Ye. . ah
I replied, sighing in defeat.  My words caught in my throat, the arguments I'd rehearsed dissolving into dust.  What was the point?  It was her life, after all, and I had no right to control it.

"Then why aren't you letting me meet him"

"Because I don't like him"
