"Choro Kabir, koi dekh lega," I whispered-yelled at Kabir, who was holding my hand under the table, reluctant to leave. Just then, dadi joined us for breakfast, and I slyly pinched Kabir's stomach, causing him to hiss in surprise.

"Tujhe kya hua ab" (What happened to you now?) Dadi inquired, giving Kabir a strange look, trying to understand the situation. Kabir glanced at me, silently urging me to explain, but I simply shrugged. Eventually, he replied "umm... vo... ab , kuch nhi dadi , bs vo macchar thi" (Um... well... it's nothing, dadi. Just a mosquito.)

"Macchar thiiii, ya mcchar tha" (A mosquito? Was it a mosquito or a fly?) Kiaan interjected, eyeing Kabir suspiciously. Suppressing a laugh at Kabir's predicament, I bit my lip to maintain composure.

"Macchar thii . Female macchar tha na isliye," (It was a female mosquito) Kabir responded, causing a snort to escape from me, which I quickly covered with a cough.

"How do you know?" Kiaan questioned again, while I struggled to stifle my laughter.

"Because male mosquitoes don't bite like that. Now, you better focus on your dinner quietly, or I might just bite you," Kabir retorted, making Kiaan grumble at his response.

"You seem very cheerful today, anything on your mind?" Dadi inquired, this time directing her gaze towards me.

"No, dadi, nothing at all," I replied, trying to maintain a straight face.

"Arre dadi, samjha kro! Bhai bahut acche se dhyan rakh rahe hain bhabhi ka," (oho dadi try to understand , bhai is taking very good care of bhabhi) Kiaan chimed in, casting a mischievous look at me.

"Acchaaa... aisa bhi hai?" (Oh really , is it so?) Dadi asked, looking at both of us with surprise after this revelation. Kiaan nodded, adding, "Aur nahi to kya, aapko pata hai bhai to ab apne haath se bhabhi ko khane bhi nahi dete, vo to aap ho to sharma rahe hain," (yes ofcourse! Do you know , nowadays, bhai don't even let bhabhi eat from her hands , rather he feed her himself) kiaan said, causing me to choke on my breath as I felt my face flush red from his words, while Kabir remained completely unfazed, making me huff in frustration.

"Arre dadi, bhai ka to bas nahi chalta, warna to vo bhabhi ko saans bhi na lene de-" (It's not in the will of bhai or else he won't even let bhabhi breathe) as soon as those words escaped from Kiaan's mouth, I stared at him wide-eyed, while Kabir started coughing uncontrollably as my dirty mind immediately got activated at his words.

I rubbed his back, handing him a glass of water, which he finally accepted after a few minutes, visibly relaxing. His entire face was red, cheeks to neck, mirroring my own flushed condition.

"Thoda soch samajh kar bola kar," (think before speaking) Dadi scolded Kiaan, who pouted as if he wasn't at fault, before replying, "Maine kya kiya ab? Mai to bas keh raha tha ki bhai bhabhi ki itni care karte hain, bas isiliye unke hisse ki saas bhi vo khud le le-" Before he could finish, dadi smacked him from behind, instructing him to shut up and not say anything, earning a nod of agreement from him.

"Okk okk now focus on your food!" Dadi ordered him with a serious look as she continued, "I wanted to discuss something important with you all," dadi said, looking at both of us.

"Yes dadi?" We both replied.

"Hmm. So actually, Karwachauth is coming in a few days, so I want you all to help me with the preparations because this is Aadhira's first Karwachauth in this house, and I want this to be celebrated in a grand way," dadi said, making my eyes shine with excitement at the mention of first festival here that too with Kabir.

"Yes dadi, we are ready," I replied, grinning widely as I was too thrilled for this special occasion.

"Tum nahi beta, mai in do gadho se bol rahi thi tum bas in par nazar rakh lena aur mujhe report deti rehna," (not you my dear , I was asking to thses two donkeys. You just keep checking on them) giggled at dadi's reply when Kabir interrupted before Kiaan could even whine about being called a gadha.
