Day 262
Two whole days of full rest ended up being the best idea for the beta's ankle. Dan took one last look at it before nodding in agreement, knowing it was time for them to go back on the road to Busan again.
Heesung was silently packing what little stuff he had around, paying close attention to the interactions between Dan and Jaekyung. Yoongu had blabbed to him about what happened two days ago and after a quick reprimanding for eavesdropping elder's conversations, he was more curious than ever. If he played his words carefully, one of them might confess and thus take the blame off of Potato if he ever does slip.
He could notice Dan's nervousness oozing out of his skin whenever he was near Jaekyung, and the alpha was in no better shape than the other. He was acting quite weird, uneasy even, whenever they were apart, especially as they always had someone in between them, either him or the young beta. Heesung giggled softly, thinking of them as two hormonal teenagers who try to act normal after being almost caught making out in the library (personal experience).
―What's so funny? ―Daehyun asked the alpha, noticing his giddy state.
―Oh nothing, just thinking of a joke I made with someone who's pretty much dead already. ―Heesung giggled, noticing Dan pacing around in the living room in some kind of restless state before turning over to Daehyun. ―Want to hear it?
―No. ―the beta shook his head, immediately walking out.
Throughout the two previous days they stalled around in that abandoned house, Dan made sure he wouldn't randomly be in the same room as Jaekyung, either going to the patio, scavenging in nearby houses or simply leaving under the excuse to clean up his bat.
Weirdly enough, he didn't felt disgusted like he thought he would be if he ever let an alpha touch him again, but more ashamed that he let his instincts take the best of him in the heat of the moment. How could he let this happen? Why are Jaekyung's pheromones taking this much control over his body?
But then, feeling this again was so good. The intoxication in the shape of a wooden scent was something he was missing right now, no matter how much he reprimanded himself about it; his instincts screamed for more. Thankfully, being a recessive omega had its benefits, as usually all it took for him to relax his hormones when in presence of an alpha was to simply stay away from him.
As he pondered about it, Heesung looked his way, approaching him. For the first time since he met him, Dan could feel a faint trace of his scent, a little surprised to find that cedar smell around him. That was odd...
―Hey Doc, ready? We got to get moving.
―Yes, all set.
―Great. Let's go. We already lost two days here. ―Jaekyung interrupted them, looking at the rest of the group as they followed him out of the house towards the highway they left some nights before.
Dan now wondered why he's suddenly smelling Heesung. Prior to the pheromone fest from two days ago, the only clear scent he could get is Jaekyung's, and although it's very faint, he couldn't help but worry of what smelling Heesung might mean for him.
He saw the wrecked car with Jin Ae's rotten corpse, marking it in his mind as the last spot he's familiar with before heading towards the unknown following the group's map. He didn't liked the idea one bit, but there's not much to do now. Letting out a sigh, he looked at the sky.
