Night 263

Dan woke up slowly, finding himself alone once again.

The memories in his deep slumber were just the long gone past torturing him, none of it was real anymore, but that didn't shook off the odd feeling it caused. How foolish was he to believe he would ever find his friends again? Or that he wouldn't be alone anymore?

His eyes were watery, tears slowly moistening his face as they fell down to his ears upon the thought of more innocent days. It's been a long time since those three people passed through his mind and sometimes he wondered if Jooha and Dooshik had made it safely to Jeju Island, or if Tae-Kwan was rotting in hell for making him stay in a cursed place.

He should've been selfish back then, he should've been selfish so many times before he suffered the consequences of not doing it.

The piercing pain in both his face and arm brought him back to the present, blinking a couple of times as he slowly sat up. His face throbbed a little, and he could notice the bandages on his hands and arm, gasping a little as he looked at the thick bandage on the latter. He had been shot, of course it was going to hurt.

The next thing he felt was the hard wood beneath him as he looked around confused: what kind of place is this? He was on a bed by himself, surrounded by what seemed to be a couple of moving shelves and closets that worked as some kind of wall.

Dan? You woke up?

A wooden smell covered his area, looking around him as Jaekyung's silhouette appeared in between the shadows, holding a lamp and a first aid kit. He sighed quite relieved to not be completely alone, cleaning up his tears as quickly as possible to not give any signs of weakness.

Stay there, I have to clean you up anyway.

Jaekyung slowly sat next to him, opening the medical kit as he carefully used the light from the lamp to illuminate the omega's face before he could proceed. The smell of Dan's pheromones was strong enough to reach him all the way to where the rest of the group were, and that's how he knew he needed to get to his side as soon as possible. He looked at him, noticing the salt streams that traveled down his face, and without saying another word he cleaned up the tears from his cheeks with his thumb.

Dan simply stared at him in the eyes, never looking apart as his face was slowly cleansed under the alpha's fingertips; his own hands trembled lightly due to the recent memory, shaking his head slowly only to feel even more of those wooden pheromones surrounding him.

He took a deep breath, relaxing as he saw the alpha take his hands off of his face to start cleaning his wounds with a piece of gauze and alcohol, really careful to not hurt him.

Ouch...―Dan whispered, flinching when the alpha disinfected the wounds in his hands from the fight. ―How long did I slept?

A day and a half, I think. You got a huge beat up, and a bullet hit you. Luckily nothing serious, seems like it just grazed your arm. If you keep it clean, it'll probably just leave a scar...

I heal fast, it's probably going to be small...

The alpha nodded, paying close attention as he checked the bandages in Dan's arm. The wound wasn't that deep, even if there was a lot of blood when he was hit. It's a good thing they're in a department store and that they scavenged enough medical stuff to heal the omega while remaining hidden from both monsters and the heavy rain.
