Ryder was in his room, playing games on his pup-pad when the portal master bursts in.
portal master: Ryder!
Ryder jumps.
max: sorry, should've knocked first.
Ryder: It's fine. But what is it?
Portal master: it'll be easy to show you.
Ryder follows him out to the hallway.
Ryder: so, what is it?
The portal master points to the floor.
Ryder: "gasp"
The floor was covered in paw prints, Both normal and big.
Ryder: where did these come from?
Portal master: there's more.
Ryder then follows him to a security room and looks around.
Ryder: cool.
Portal master: I know it is. But you need to see this.
He pushes buttons on his watch.
Then footage from a security camera appears on one of the monitors.
In the footage, it shows the pups
(Marshall, rubble, chase, rocky, Zuma, and Skye)
walking down the same hall together.
after the pups are out of view...
portal master: here it comes.
It shows a large, hairy, pup-shaped creature heading down the same hall.
It goes back in the lookout.
A few seconds after, it ducks back out, then goes in the same direction as the pups.
Ryder (worried): please say that they're ok.
The screen then changes to the next camera...
portal master: this part is when it can be confusing.
In this footage, it shows the six pups just walking and talking as if nothing happened.
Ryder looks at the portal master with a sad look.
Ryder: so, what you're saying is one of the pups is that "thing"?
Portal master: "sigh" unfortunately, yes.
Ryder looks as if he's about to burst into tears.
max: I know that this is hard to take in, but we will get through "ulp".
Ryder suddenly gives him a hug.
Ryder: thank you.
Portal master (to himself): well, this was unexpected, but oh well.
After Ryder lets go...
Ryder: so, should we tell the pups about this?
Portal master: Humm, no. Right now my guess is that the beast pup doesn't want the rest of us to know about it.
Ryder: And we can't just straight-up question them.
Portal master: no we can't. So here's my suggestion of what we do:
For the moment, until we can get a firm lock as to which pup it is, we act as if nothing happened.
Ryder: And we keep searching for clues around the place. Got it.
