The portal master and the kids were back in the command room.
The pups were who-knows-where.
Moon light shining in through the windows.
Portal master: and next we...
In the distance: AAAAAAAAAAA, HEELPP!!
The portal master and the kids turn to a door.
Portal master (nervously): um, guys, did that sound like Rocky?
Katie (nervously): yes.
The next voice was no doubt Rocky.
in the distance: DON'T EAT ME!
Portal master: ok, that has to be Rocky.
"Beast pup roar".
All: oh no.
The kids quickly grab their night-vision goggles and follow the portal master in the direction of the yelling.
After some wandering around, the kids notice that their teen friend left them in the dust.
Ryder: um, did he just leave us?
Row: more likely he outran us.
They keep moving.
As they turn a corner, step on something.
??: OOWW!!
Carlos: What was that?
??: watch the tail, you guys.
It was a black jaguar.
Taylor: a black jaguar? How?
Jaguar: What, you don't recognize me?
Katie: Of course it's just him.
max: "clears throat" if you guys are done admiring how pawsome I am, can we get moving and find rocky before it's too late?
Ryder: oh right.
Their black jaguar friend turns around and takes off down the corridor, leaving his human friends in the dust again.
Carlos: well, come on.
They run off too.
Timeskip: 13 secs
the kids catch up with the portal master.
He was facing three different hallways.
The first on the left.
the second in the center.
The third on the right.
He sits down as the kids reach him.
row: why did we stop?
max: Shush you guys, I'm listening to find where Rocky is.
His ears start turning.
Rocky (in distance): AAAAHHH, RYDER!!
The portal master stands back up and turns to the hall on the right.
portal master: this way.
He takes off again.
The kids just look at each other, shrug then follow him.
Ryder (in himself): hang on pup.
They catch up again in another hall.
The portal master then turns to his normal self.
portal master: ok, i know that he's around here somewhere.
The group walks down the corridor.
As they approach the lab...
rocky (closer): RYDER!!
Taylor: in here.
They slowly enter the room.
Sure enough, there's Rocky.
Still in one piece but backed against the wall.
The others duck behind a table.
Katie: well, we found him. Now what?
Portal master: we get him out of here. Portal cannon.
His right forearm suddenly flashes, and is replaced by an arm cannon.
The kids gap.
portal master: what are you guys gaping at now?
He sees his arm.
portal master: oh, that? That's actually not new.
They don't move.
portal master: wake up.
He hits them on the head with his cannon arm.
kids: ow.
Portal master: will you stay focused already.
Our heroes move in to help rocky.
The pup then sees his owner, who gives him a smile.
The portal master turns to the others, then nods.
They nod back.
max: well, here goes nothing.
He jumps into the open, cannon rapidly shooting stun darts.
Ryder, knowing that's his chance, rushes to his pup's side.
Ryder: come on Rocky.
The mix-breed runs after the 10-year-old.
The two head for the door and the others follow.
Once they're out, Ryder gives his pup a hug.
They look at the portal master and see that he has his normal arm again.
portal master: well, that was fun.
Ryder looks at Rocky.
Ryder: Rocky, what were you doing in there?
Rocky: I admit, I could not stop thinking about that flight stabilizer and my curiosity got the best of me.
Ryder and Max look at each other.
rocky: Next thing i know, i was cornered.
Ryder: Well, all that matters is that you're fine.
Portal master: let's go, i want to get back to my game.
They turn and walk out.
But just as they left, the beast pup reappears as themself again, head spinning.
beast pup: Wh.. what happened now?
The pup sees a dart stuck in the left side of their chest.
beast pup: what? Why is this here?
They look around.
beast pup: oh, this is the lab we were in earlier.
They see that the room was a mess.
As the pup walks around, they find some of Rocky's fur.
beast pup: oh no, did i...
Then they get Ryder's smell.
beast pup: no, Ryder has him.
They step into the hallway.
beast pup: now which do i go to get back?
They run off.
