"Pregnant?!" Susan exclaims over the phone. "Are you being serious right now?!"
Max drowns out the conversation between Niccolò and Lorenzo catching Sam and Susan up on all that happened, her just standing in the hotel room staring out of the window.
She doesn't know how she feels right now, she doesn't even know what to feel anymore. Anger...hurt...both. It just seems like every time they take a step closer to each other something always happens that forces them to take a step back. She doesn't know if it is the universe trying to warn her to not be with him or if this is just apart of the life, if this is just the natural remedies of living life, that complicated situations come to rise.
One thing she knows is that she does love Lucas, her connection with him is strong but at the same time she just can't be with a man who has a child with another person. The last thing she wants is kids, and especially her not wanting a man who has kids with other women, it just brings up to many complications that she doesn't want to deal with.
She can't even answer the calls from Erica or Jane, she can't even read the text messages that Lucas has sent to her, she doesn't want to talk to anyone.
She just wants to lock herself in her room and never leave out of it.
She wants to close up and build up her walls and bottle up.
Just like she always does when things like this happen.
Even though she knows it's wrong, she just wants to leave from the face of the earth like Sabrina did, she just wants to escape all of the complications of the world, all of the frustrations, all of the stress and just be alone to herself.
"Oh my god..." Susan trails off when Lorenzo and Niccolò get done explaining everything to her and Sam both. "Where is she?"
"She's in the room." Niccolò replies. "She doesn't want to talk right now."
"Just get a flight back here, get her out of there." Sam sighs.
"We're just waiting on Elio to get back from wherever he went." Lorenzo says. "We'll be there soon."
"Okay. See you guys soon."
Lorenzo hangs up the call, him sighing out while running a hand through his thick shoulder length blonde hair. "We can hit up a rage room before we go, Max."
"No thanks." Max turns to face him with crossed arms, her usual cold and guarded gaze being in her eyes and a neutral guarded expression being written on her face. "I want to leave here and just go back home. Where the hell is Lio?"
"No clue. Just said he had something to take care of then left." Niccolò answers.
"If he isn't here in the next ten minutes then I'm leaving without him, and you guys if you both choose to stay and wait on him." Max says simply.
"Max...the last thing you need to do is close up." Niccolò tells her.
"This is why I don't get close to anyone but family. Shit like this happens. This is why Sabrina always keeps everyone at a distance! Look at how easy it is for her!" She exclaims.
"The last thing you want to be like is Sabrina." Lorenzo crosses his arms. "Sasha sheds tears every damn day because of her just up and leaving. While they're married. Sabrina is a coward in my book, and one thing you aren't Max is a coward."
"I'm not condoning what she did, I'm just saying she knows what she's doing when it comes to protecting herself emotionally." Max simply replies. "I'm going to go on a bike ride. If Elio is not here when I get back I'm taking the jet."
