As I poured myself a cup of coffee I heard a knock on the front door. Standing there I wasn't sure if I wanted to answer or not, I knew Devon was going to be coming over around noon and it was only nine in the morning.

The knocking grew a bit louder the second time, I blew out a breath and grumbled this was too early for visitors as I made my way to the front door.

I opened the door, thankfully the screen door was locked.

"Can I help you?" I asked as a man stood on the other side of the door.

"I'm here to speak with Tori," the man said.

"I'm her, who are you and what is this about?" I asked as I kept my hand on the solid oak door.

"My name is Darious; I know your aunt. Her and I worked on a few projects together and I heard about her passing. I wanted to give my condolences and she spoke so highly of you that I wanted to meet her niece."

"Thank you, what projects did you work on together?" I asked, seeing if he truly was who he said he was.

I noticed he looked around for a moment before he spoke.

"Your aunt and I worked on two books together, they were of the hidden worlds, and I helped her collect a few of the objects that she had locked away."

I unlocked the door and stood off to one side.

"Why don't you come in and I will get you something to drink" I said as he walked past me. Just as he passed me his scent hit my nose. It was made of lavender and mint. An unusual combination for a man.

"Thank you for letting me into your home, I know you asked me those questions to make sure I was who I said I was. Very impressive" he said with a wink.

I gave him a small smile and led him into the kitchen.

"Have a seat, would you like coffee or iced tea?" I asked standing by the cupboards.

"Coffee for now, thank you," he said. I poured us two mugs of coffee, handing one to him. I sat down across from him at the kitchen table.

"So, which one are you?" I asked as I sipped my coffee, watching him, waiting for his reaction.

The smile that developed on his face was a real one.

"I can see why your aunt told me to be careful around you, you are very observant. I'm what you would consider a werewolf" he said as he took a sip of his coffee.

"This is actually cool to find out about all of this, honestly my aunt always told me about this world where the hidden are among us, but I thought they were just stories she would tell me, to entertain me is all."

"I think it was her way of telling you what was really out there so when you grew up and found out what was really there, you wouldn't freak out" Darious said with a wink.

I laughed and agreed with his statement.

"So who else have you met?" he asked as he finished his coffee.

"I've met Devon," I said, watching Darious. He nodded his head.

"He's a decent guy for a vampire, but he is awfully secretive if you ask me," he said quietly.

"Just so you know I am who I say I am, I have this to give to you" he said as he pulled a sealed envelope out of his pocket and handed it to me.

I could see it was sealed with my aunt's insignia.

I broke open the seal and pulled out a letter with a picture. The picture was my aunt and Darious deep in the jungles of some country. Turning it over, it was my aunt's writing.
