Chapter Thirty-One

I spent all day Thursday in bed, relaxing and talking with Darious about my abilities and what I could do to make sure I did not overwork my system. He had a few good tips that I was going to try next time I needed to heal someone.

Also a nice relaxing hot bath where I made sure to soak and relax my nerves. Tony never did call or text me back, I had a feeling he wouldn't but still a small part of me was disappointed.

"If you need me, all you have to do is say so, I have talked with my elders on the council and they will go in and bring you out if it comes to that" Darious said as he was washing my back for me.

"How did I get so lucky to have you as a mate?" I said as I looked at him in the reflection of the mirror. He was sexy, romantic, great in bed and he also was protective and understanding.

Thursday night we spent making love to each other, it was slow and tender, full of passion. It was the perfect night by far.

I woke up refreshed and ready to face whatever I was going to tonight. Darious and I knew something was off but until we could figure it out, we had to let it play out.

I spent the day learning a few dances that they might have, most of them were waltzes, and a few different slow ones that I had no idea the names to.

"We have got to do this more often" I said as Darious swept me across the dance floor. He was an amazing dancer.

"Just wait till we have our ball," he said with a wink. I couldn't wait for that to be on his arm as we danced the night away.

I stood in front of the full length mirror as I slipped on my dress. It fits like a glove.

"This dress looks like it was made just for you my mate" Darious said as he made sure the back of my dress was perfect. I had already done my hair into a bun with a few soft ringlets cascading down the side of my face.

Darious walked up behind me and slipped his arm around me, putting on a golden necklace that had a wolf attached to it.

"This is so beautiful" I said as my fingers traced the wolf.

"I might be able to be there with you in person, but in spirit I can be" he said as he kissed my forehead.

"Thank you my mate" I said looking up into his bright beautiful green eyes.

Standing in front of the mirror, I couldn't believe the woman standing before me in a dark red silk dress that had a slit that went halfway up my leg, dark red and gold high heels.

My hair and makeup were perfect for tonight.

I felt like a princess going to her first ball. There was a knock at the door, and Darious went to answer it, I could hear Darious and Todd talking for a moment.

I took a breath and slowly letting it out, I walked into the family room where both men were waiting.

Todd turned around and his eyes darkened when he saw me.

"You are a vision my sweet, definitely the bell of the ball tonight" he said as he held out his arm for me.

"You look handsome as well," I said. I noticed he was wearing a black tuxedo with a dark red shirt that was the same color as my dress.

"He is in love with you my mate, be careful" Darious whispered in my mind.

"I promise I will be my mate; I love you" I whispered back to him.

"I will see you when you get home," Darious said as he watched me get into the limo that Todd had brought for us.

As we drove Todd explained all about tonight and what it meant to the vampires, but I will admit I wasn't paying too much attention as my mind was filled with thoughts of being in Darious arms, making love in the water with the waterfall in the background.
