Chapter Twenty-Nine

Pulling up to the house, I sat there for a moment not sure if I was ready to walk into the house as if nothing happened. Steading my nerves I opened the door and got out.

Walking up the pathway I could hear soft music playing from inside the house.

"I see you made it home safe my sweet cat" Tony said. I turned and saw he was sitting on the swing in the dark.

"It was a drive but I figured it was another test from them" I said as I walked over and sat down next to him.

I sat there watching him, he couldn't look me in the eye which meant he was hiding something from me.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I put my hand on his leg.

Tony stood up and started to pace the porch, he stopped and turned and looked at me.

"I need to talk to you Tori, now please don't say anything until I have finished."

"Okay" I said, sitting back on the swing, tucking one leg underneath me.

"I met a woman around two hundred years ago, she was already a vampire. She was alluring and captivated my attention. She was one that I thought I was in love with, but after a brief affair she had me convinced that we should marry.

I agreed and we married the next week, it was wonderful for the first few years until she started to grow bored with us. She wanted to start going out with other men.

That's when I agreed that we should separate and live our own lives, we would stay married until we found our mate that we were made for. She agreed, but I think she agreed just so she could live her own life.

I've asked her for a divorce a few times over the course of the years, she always would find ways for it not to happen.

Until the day I first met you and knew you were my other half and that I wanted to marry you for our eternity. She threw a fit and threatened to contact certain people to hurt you.

So I dropped the subject, until recently she saw how in love I was with you. She was the one who contacted the demons to come after you, the knife was meant for you not Darious.

She saw that you had my mark, and she was furious because I wouldn't ever give her my mark. We can only mark our true mate, and you are my true mate.

She ended up killing two males who denied her affection, she was always vain and thought all men should kiss the ground she walked on. She contacted me, filled me with lies about the council wanting to hurt her for whatever reason. So I did, when I was supposed to be working I took her to an apartment that no one knew about.

I got a call that tonight she was captured by the council and will be answering for her crimes that she has committed. I'm telling you this because I know you sent them to her. You had some of the facts but not all of them.

You had part of it right, the council was testing you, that's why the strange location. But as I knew you would, you passed with flying colors. They trust you and want you on their council. And before you say anything, my sweet dear wife to be, I am not mad at you, in fact I am grateful for what you did. You have saved me and most importantly you saved yourself."

I sat there listening to all of this, and the weight of sending them to this unknown woman vanished. She sent the demons to kill me, she kept Tony on a leash, per say, and she killed regular human men because of her vanity.

"You don't know how hard it was trying to keep this from you, I was so worried that you would walk away from me" I said looking up at him.

"I couldn't ever walk away from you, you're my wife and my sweet cat," Tony said as he bent down on his knees in front of me.
