Stretching, I laid in bed as I could hear the birds chirping, and there was a gentle breeze blowing in through my windows. This was going to be a great morning I thought until I heard voices being raised from the other room.
"I thought you were going to be here to protect her?" Devon growled out.
"She's your girlfriend, why are you the one always gone for days at a time Devon, have you told her what you actually do in the city? We know you don't have to work twenty-four hours a day" Darious growled back.
I could tell things were getting heated, and I really wasn't in the mood to deal with both of them when they were like this.
I covered my head with my blanket and rolled over, closing my eyes. But that didn't drown out their bickering. After a few minutes and they weren't shutting up any time soon, I threw the blankets off of me and got up. I walked into the kitchen and both guys stopped.
"I have had it up to here with both of you and your bickering. I asked you guys to get along with me. I do not need a babysitter Devon, Darious is allowed to come and go as he wishes, he knows the rules here. As for you, you're gone half the time to take care of things, so it's not his responsibility to watch me, and it's not yours either.
Yes Tony showed up last night, big deal. He was kind and polite, we had a nice chat and he was friends with my aunt. He said you knew who he was, and by your admission he told me last night who he was, so that worked out.
Now, I am going to take a shower, eat some breakfast, and by then Tony will be here. He wants the three of us to talk Devon, so I expect you to be here when Tony arrives" I said, then turned on my heel and went to take my shower.
After my shower, I put on one of my favorite sundresses. It was a coral color with a few little flowers designed on it. It went to my knees, and it was light and airy. Perfect for this kind of weather we were being hit with.
I decided to put my hair in a braid and paired it with a set of small flowery earrings that dangled just slightly below my ears.
Standing in front of the mirror, I don't know why I was dressing so feminine when I wanted to work in the greenhouse today, but I shrugged it off. Probably wanted to make a good impression since Tony was an elder and part of the vampire council.
Walking into the kitchen I saw Devon wasn't around but Darious was standing at the stove cooking me breakfast.
"Good morning" I said with a slight smile, I wanted today to be a great day and I thought I would start it off with a smile. Darious looked at me for a moment and a smile slowly developed on his face.
"Good morning beautiful, your eggs are almost ready" he said as his eyes did a quick roam of my body.
I went to the fridge and grabbed some orange juice, and two glasses.
"Where's Devon?" I asked as I sat down at the table.
"He said he had to go home for a bit and to text him when Tony arrives" he said as he put my plate in front of me. I let out a sigh, I was hoping he would be here.
"Okay and thank you for breakfast, it looks delicious" I said as I started eating.
Darious filled his plate and sat down next to me, being around Darious was comfortable, we didn't need to fill the silence with useless chatter. We enjoyed just being in the moment.
"Darious, do you know anything about Tony or the council?" I asked.
He set his fork down, took a drink of his juice and then looked at me.
"Each group has their own council, the vampires, the werewolves and so forth. Now with the vampire council I do know they are strict and have many rules they go by.
