For the next two days, Darious painted the house and porch for me while I ordered straw and wood chip shavings, water troughs, and feed buckets.
I wanted to get a start on what I would need to have my horses here by fall, I hoped.
In the evenings, Darious worked with me on the collections, as we went through what I could touch and the ones that we shouldn't ever open. I decided with all the supplies that Darious ordered for his house that he was going to build, he agreed that we should build onto the house.
I always wanted a sunroom, but it was going to have electricity and a ceiling fan as well.
"There, the whole house is painted and looks perfect," Darious said standing back with a big smile on his face. I had to admit in the short amount of time, he did an amazing job.
Everything was perfect, he helped me bring the plants to the porch as the sun was starting to set.
"When does Tony come home?" he asked, as we finished rearranging the plants.
"He should be back tomorrow" I said as I sat down on the swing. Darious went inside to grab us our iced tea. He walked back out and handed me my glass.
Sitting down next to me, we watched the sun set behind the trees. The lights that lined the pathway up to the house turned on, which gave it a soft glow.
"Everything looks perfect," I said, sipping on my tea.
And it really did, this place was no longer looking like a haunted run down house, but it was taking the shape of a home in its place.
"I heard that you and Tony are getting married next spring" Darious said looking down at his glass.
"That's the plan, plus it gives me time to find the right dress" I said as I looked out over the trees.
Darious didn't say anything for a moment, I could feel he was wanting to say something but for some reason he was keeping it to himself.
"What's going on Darious?" I asked, turning to look at him.
He sat there for a moment before turning his head and looking at me with those light green eyes of his.
"I miss you; I miss us and I fear that I have ruined my chances with you" he said quietly.
So there it was, he finally was admitting what has been bothering him for the past few days.
I turned a bit in my seat and took a hold of his hands, he looked at our hands and then up at me.
"You haven't ruined your chances Darious; my heart still beats for you" I said not looking away.
You could tell Darious was surprised to hear that, he sat there blinking a few times then a small smile formed on his face.
"What?" I asked with a light laugh.
He didn't say a word, just stood up and took a hold of my hand, walking me into the house, shutting and locking the door behind us.
"What are you doing?" I was confused by his sudden demeanor.
"Something that I should have done a long time ago when I had the chance but didn't take it" he growled out.
"Darious?"
He turned around as I almost walked into his chest, I stopped and looked up at him.
He pulled me to him as he claimed my mouth with his, his tongue found mine. I melted in his arms and kissed him back. This was something that I had wanted him to do for so long but wasn't brave enough to ask for it.
