I have to be out of my mind, I thought as I drove down this one lane dirt road that was out in the middle of nowhere. Glancing at the time it was already ten at night.

"I should have been there by now" I said as I looked at my phone's gps. It showed my destination was coming up within five miles. I continued until I spotted a house in the distance with a few lights on.

"Finally," I said, blowing out a breath that I didn't realize I was holding.

As I drove up to the house, the hair on the back of my neck started to stand up. It had to be my nerves, I thought as I put my car in park and turned off the engine.

Sitting there, I looked out of my car's front window at the house. It definitely gave off the creepy haunted house vibe, but maybe in the daylight it won't be so bad. I hoped it wasn't as bad as it was looking in the dark.

"Why did you leave me this place aunt Landy" I said as I closed my eyes for a moment to gather myself before stepping out of the car.

I jumped as there was a tapping on my window. Opening my eyes there stood a man holding an oil lamp.

I rolled my window down just a hair.

"Are you Tori?" the man asked.

"Yes, and you are?" I asked, I'm sure just by my tone the man could tell I was nervous. A warm smile developed on his face.

"Sorry to scare you Tori, I was designated by your aunt's lawyer to welcome you and make sure you were taken care of when you arrived. My name is Devon" he said as he backed away from the car.

I rolled up the window, grabbed my keys and my purse. Opened the car door and stepped out. The wind picked up and a chill went down my spine.

"Nice to meet you Devon" I said as I shut my door.

"Let me help you with your bags" he said as he followed me to my trunk.

After handing him the three bigger bags, I took the two smaller ones and followed him to the front door.

"Before we go inside, I need to tell you your aunt led a simple life, she didn't want to clutter her house with junk, she used to say. But she did love to collect certain items that were supposedly haunted" Devon said as he put the key into the lock.

"So, my aunt collected haunted items, great," I said, rolling my eyes. That was just what I needed, to spend my summer throwing away more junk. I knew my aunt was a simple woman from what I remembered growing up. But when I turned eighteen, my aunt invited me to live with her permanently.

I was thinking about accepting the offer, until my mother and aunt Landy got into a massive argument about aunt Landy being eccentric and I was not going to get involved with her scams.

Aunt Landy apologized to me, telling me she wouldn't be able to take me with her, then she left. After that I lost contact with her, she wouldn't ever return my calls, or letters that I would write since I knew she didn't own a computer.

Then one day I received a call from Aunt Landy's lawyer, telling me that my aunt had passed away in her sleep and that I was the only beneficiary in her will.

I thought after these past eight years Aunt Landy forgot all about me, but according to her lawyer, she left me everything. It surprised me when I sat down with the lawyer to go over aunt Landy's will. She had left me her house, her old car that I was surprised was still on four wheels. And all of her life savings.

My mouth dropped open when he told me how much I was getting. I could stop working as a waitress and enjoy five lifetimes with never having to worry about money again.
