After taking a quick shower, I put my hair up into a ponytail since the temperature was supposed to get up into the high eighties today. I put on my shorts and a tank top and slipped on my sandals.

After dinner last night Devon went home, and I sat at the kitchen table making a list of things that I wanted to get for this place.

I also wanted to get a few plants for the front porch and to just walk around town.

It couldn't be that bad, could it?

I ate a quick breakfast since Devon was going to be coming by around ten this morning and it was already nine a.m.

I heard Devon pull up just as I finished washing my dishes, checking myself out in the mirror everything still looked good. I put the list in my purse and made sure I had my wallet with cash, and my cellphone.

"Good morning," Devon said, as he walked into the kitchen.

"Good morning" I said, with a smile when I saw him.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be, I also have my list of things I want to get today" I said, grabbing my purse. Once we were outside, I locked the front door. Once inside his truck, he took off for town. My stomach released a million little butterflies, but I wasn't about to let Devon know that I was nervous as hell to face these people.

"No matter what goes on, I'll be right beside you. I won't let anything happen to you" he said as he took a hold of my one hand.

"Do you think something is going to happen?" I asked.

"Hopefully no, but some of these townspeople are old fashioned and since you are new to this town you might not get the warm welcome."

"I remember my aunt always saying hope for the best, expect the worst."

"She always said that before she would go on another one of her adventures" Devon said with a smirk. I could see my aunt saying that as she put on her big floppy sun hat as she headed out the door.

Devon slowed down as soon as the town came into view. He squeezed my hand but didn't let go of it, and I wasn't about to let go of him, I was drawing courage from him.

Once the car was parked, Devon got out and walked over to my side of the door, opening it he held out his hand for me. Placing mine in his I got out and right away I noticed a few people that were walking by, stopped, and looked at us.

Shutting the truck door, we walked to the hardware store. Inside it was quiet, only the clerk was at the register. No hello's or good mornings, just staring at me.

"Good morning" I said as I smiled at the older gentleman, "morning" he replied back. At least it was something, I thought as we made our way down a few of the isles.

I gave Devon my list, and once we had everything that I could think of, we walked towards the cash register.

"Will this be all?" the man asked.

"Yes," Devon replied.

Most of the townspeople knew Devon, so I didn't mind that he was going to be doing the talking, this way it gives me a chance to see how people interact around this town.

Loading up the supplies from the hardwood store, I couldn't help but notice how small this town actually was. The stores lined both sides of the street, which ran for only a block.

No stop lights, a few streetlights lined the street. If you blink while driving, you would definitely miss this town.

"Is there anywhere else you would like to go?" Devon asked as he shut the truck door.
