Chapter 50- Worried

I knew something was bothering her but I didn't know what, my sister only told me they were unable to reach her for some days but she didn't really tell me the reason why everything was happening.

I was beginning to think I had something to do with her mood but I haven't done anything to warrant such a reaction from her then what could it be?

I knew I wouldn't stop worrying until I found out what was disturbing her and I knew the right person to ask.

I got settled in my office as I sat down and brought out my phone from my pocket then I dialed my sister's number.

She didn't pick until the third ring.

“ Luca what's up?" She said as soon as she picked up.

“ Is there something I should know about that you're not telling me?" I asked.

“ I don't think there's something happening that I haven't told you, why would you ask that brother?" She asked.

“ Katherine, I know something is bothering her but I don't know what it is, but I just can't shake off the feeling that something isn't right," I said and the line suddenly went silent, I knew there's was something.

“ What is it Anna?" I asked but didn't get any response so I removed my phone from my ear and looked at it to make sure the call was still connected and it was.

“ Anna, are you aware I'm waiting for you to speak?" I asked when I heard her clear her throat over the phone.

“ I really think you should stay out of her personal matters brother, we wouldn't want to interfere,” We? She should speak for herself, anything that concerns Katherine I'll interfere, I didn't want the woman I was in love with going through shits and I wouldn't have a clue about it.

" You know how I feel about Katherine and you know I wouldn't stop worrying until I know she's okay and not facing some life threatening situation,” I said.

She finally sighed in defeat and I knew she was going to tell me what I needed to know.

" I shouldn't be telling you this brother, I feel like a snitch,” She said.

" You're not a snitch, you don't know if I would be able to help her in any way," I said as I anxiously waited for what she was about to say.

“ Well, she found out that Eddy cheated on her," She said and for a moment I just stopped breathing like I couldn't believe my ears.

“ What?!" I asked in shock.

" Don't tell her I told you, I have to go back to work,” She said because the call ended.

I didn't know how to feel about the news, should I be happy? Would that make me a bad person? She was hurting because she found him cheating on her? Did she really love him that much? I didn't want to think about that.

I knew he was going to screw up one way or the other, guess fate was working in my favor, his loss my gain.

I would be that friend to her, help her heal and show her that I'm the better man for her.

I just hope she gives me the chance to explain myself. I want her back in my life as soon as possible, life has been too dark without her.

My day continued with me doing my job and trying as much as possible to avoid Mr. Vincenzo when he comes close to me in any way. I've told him if it isn't about work I don't want to talk about it.

I had peace when he had a two hour online meeting.

I was so engrossed in my work trying to distract myself that I didn't know it was already late. I turned to look at the lunch that was sent to me by Mr. Vincenzo but I didn't touch it, I wasn't hungry.

It must have gone bad by now.

I picked the bag and walked to the trash can as I discarded the food.

“ I see you didn't touch your lunch," I suddenly heard Mr. Vincenzo's voice and I jumped because I wasn't expecting him.

“ I wasn't hungry," I said as I walked to my table and started arranging my things.

" It's way past lunch time, what about now are you still not hungry?” He asked.

" I'm not…" I was about to say when my stomach growled in hunger.

Just perfect, what wonderful timing.

“ Then I guess it's time we go for dinner,"

" I'm not going anywhere with you,” I said. Do I look like I wanted to be seated at a table having dinner with him?

" I wasn't asking you, get your things and let's go, it's an order.”
