" What do you mean he escaped prison? How's that possible? How… how's that even possible?” I whispered as I looked up at Debbie but she looked as confused as I was.
“ I don't know, I really don't know," She said with a sigh as she looked down looking lost in her thoughts.
“ Do you think he has something to do with my attack last night?” I asked and she quickly looked up at me.
" What if?” She simply said.
There were a few reasons Uncle Charles wanted me dead, first he thinks I ruined his life when that was all his doing.
He wants to kill me because he knows he'll never be able to take back the properties he killed his brother for, so he'd just kill me since he can't have it and the list goes on.
But right now I don't know if he sent the guy that attacked me last night.
I know he wasn't the one in my room last night because I would have known, I know his voice and his body, I'm a hundred percent sure he wasn't that guy from last night.
“ We have to be extra careful right now, for all we know he might be visiting me soon, we have to be very careful, I don't want anything to happen to you,” She said as her arms went around me gently in a hug, careful not to press too hard.
She pulled away as she looked at me with a smile.
“ Nobody's going to hurt you I promise, we'll get through this together,"
“ Together," I said as I squeezed her hand.
“ By the way the police are here, they'll like to get your statement," She said.
“ They should go away, I don't want to talk to anyone right now, I'm tired,” I said with a groan and made myself even more comfortable as I threw my face to the other side.
“ Come on, you have to talk to them so we can find out who's responsible for all this,” She said as she drew the covers up my chin.
“ I'll send them in now,"
“ Do I have to do this?" I asked.
“ Yes, we're not talking about this again."
“ Fine, bring them in," I said.
The officers came to ask me a series of questions and I gave them answers, when they were done taking my statement they left.
“ See that wasn't so hard,"
“ You'd say that cause you're not the one who has to remember being thrown around the room like a rag,"
“ Hey, I didn't mean it that way," She said, sounding surprised at my words.
“ I'm sorry, I'm just stressed," I said with a sigh.
" It's okay, you'll be fine, I understand, I'll get you something to eat so you can take your meds,” She said and I nodded. She dropped a kiss on my forehead before walking out of the room.
As I was left alone I couldn't help but think about what would have happened to me if help didn't come. Maybe they'd be crying over my dead body this morning.
It gave me chills just thinking about it.
Debbie came back some minutes later with a tray of food, I wasn't feeling hungry at all but I couldn't open my mouth to tell her that, I wouldn't hear the end of it.
Food was the last thing on my mind but I needed to take my medications so I had to eat.
Debbie fed me cause my right hand which I mostly use was wrapped with a bandage.
When I was done eating the nurse came to check up on me and gave me my medication and I took them before she left.
I couldn't stay awake after the medication and I didn't want to even fight it, I felt so drained so I fell asleep.
I opened my eyes and found myself in front of our house, it was standing and not burnt down, like nothing ever happened. What was going on? Why was I here?
Then I saw him; Uncle Charles.
He was walking out of the house with my father, laughing and talking like nothing ever happened.
They were talking but I couldn't hear what they were saying, then I watched as my Dad suddenly walked away after saying something to Uncle Charles.
I saw the look in uncle Charles' eyes as his eyes followed my dad, they were filled with so much malice, hatred, like that was how it had always been.
Then Uncle Charles' eyes suddenly turned to me like he could see me then he pointed to me.
‘ You, you must die!’
As he said that the whole place suddenly changed as I was taken back to the place I was very familiar with, the ruins of our house.
I could hear the screams, the agony of my parents, why was this happening to me?
I blocked my ears with my hands not wanting to hear their screams.
‘ Kate, safe us,’ I heard my mom's voice.
This was looking like something out of a horror movie.
‘ Please, Kate darling,’ My Dad.
‘ Dad! Mom! Dad!’
‘ Save us! Save us!’ The voices were becoming taunting and loud.
‘ This will be you soon, when I find you, I'll ruin you!’
I felt something or rather someone shaking me then I opened my eyes to see Debbie looking at me in worry.
“ You were having a nightmare, you kept calling Mom and Dad,” She said as she sat down beside my bed.
“ I think it's because of the news of Uncle Charles escaping prison, I had a nightmare about him and I was taken back to how our parents died in the fire,"
“ That's horrible," She said as she engulfed me in a hug.
“ Yeah, sometimes I just wish I had died with them,"
“ Hey! Don't say that," She said as she looked up at me with tears in her eyes.
“ Don't ever say that, you're one of the best things that has ever happened to me, and I'm glad I met you,” She said as she lightly touched my face.
" I'm sorry I just felt overwhelmed,”
" It's okay,” She said as she wiped tears in my eyes I didn't know were falling.
" I'm here for you, and there's nothing we can't do together,”
“ Yeah," I said.
“ By the way there's this one guy who won't stop calling you,"
