Chapter 99- The Truth

“ Thank you for allowing me to meet you here," he said as he sat down beside me and I gave him a kind smile before my eyes went to the woman that was trying to get her little boy from trying to somersault. I couldn't help but chuckle. He was so little yet he was trying to do something like that.

“ I dreamt of us like that," he said as I turned to him in confusion.

“ What are you talking about?" I asked.

“ You as a mother to our kids,"

“ Eddy stop," I said as I turned away from him and I heard him sigh.

“ Did you ever love me or were you just using me as a spare till you go back to him?” He asked

" If you keep asking me those types of questions, I'm sorry I don't want to talk to you,” I said and I was about to get up but he stopped me.

" I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you,” he said and I sat back down.

“ How's your leg? It's good you can walk again," he said and I nodded without saying anything.

“ I told you that I was going to prove to you that I was innocent and I've been doing just that, I wish, I just wish you had believed me but I guess we weren't meant to be," he said with a sigh as he rubbed his forehead.

“ My ex, she planned everything, the videos were real but I was drugged, and it's crazy but in my drunk state, I thought you were her, I have something to show you that you might not like but just to clarify everything, I'll have to show you, it's a little weird,” he said as he brought out his phone.

I watched him open the phone, then he took a deep breath and passed it to me.

“ I've seen this before I don't…”

" You didn't see it with the sound turned on,” He said and my eyes turned to the screen. It was the video his ex had sent to me of them having sex, I didn't want to watch it, it would just bring back hurtful memories.

I finally played the video and the first thing that reached my ears was my name, he was calling my name. The one she had sent to me didn't have any sound so I didn't hear anything nor the sounds they were making but just seeing them like that was enough to tear at my heart.

Now I understand everything, the way he touched her, kissed her, held her was all because he thought she was me, even when drunk. But this doesn't change anything, we can't come back together, we were never meant to be.

But I feel at peace knowing that everything that happened wasn't because I wasn't enough for him, it's good to know that he didn't cheat on me.

I passed him back his phone and for a moment we just enjoyed the silence, none of us saying a word.

“ You'll find the right woman," I said, breaking the silence.

" I wish you were her,”

" Things don't always go as planned,” I said as I looked up at him.

" I'm not the woman meant for you, you'll find her, but I know she's not me, I wish you happiness,” I said.

" At least we could still be friends?” he asked.

" You were my friend before we became anything, so yeah, we could still be friends although things might not be like they used to be before we started dating, but we'll get through it," I said.

“ Well, princess, I'm glad I met you,”

" You too Mr. Green Eyes,” I said and he chuckled before releasing a breath.

“ I'll leave now, I have to go to work," He said.

“ Okay," I said.

“ Mind if I at least get a hug?" He asked and I didn't see anything wrong with it so I went into his open arms. It was a good feeling, the feeling of having that friend back in your life.

“ I pray everything works out fine for you," I said and he laughed before pulling away.

“ Stop saying that like we're not going to see each other again, I might not like your boyfriend but for your sake I'll try, as long as he makes you happy,” He said as he ruffled my hair.

“ Get away from me silly," I said, pushing his hands away.

" I'll leave now,”

" See you some other time,” he said.

" Yeah,” I said as I waved at him before he left.

I was in my office when my phone vibrated with a message and I picked my phone to see it was a message from Katherine's bodyguard.

‘ She met this man, she's still at the park.’

The message read with pictures.

It was him. What did he go there for and why did she accept to meet him?

I shouldn't be bothered right? I trust her and whatever reason they might have met she's going to tell me when I get home, it's nothing to worry about.

‘ Make sure she's okay,’ I texted back before keeping my phone and resuming work.

My father's words came to mind again. He wanted me to introduce a woman to him, there wasn't a woman in my life except Katherine and I don't think she was ready for that now.

I want everything to be alright as soon as possible, I wanted to stake my claim, I didn't want any other man near her.

She was mine.

Only mine.
