Chapter 73- Making Up

Some time later, Luca returned to the room as he climbed on bed muttering a ‘goodnight’ but didn't say anything after that.

He was really mad at me and I had to apologize, he was trying so hard for me and it felt like I wasn't appreciating his efforts.

And he loves me. That was what he said right?

“ Luca," I called as I lightly shook his shoulder but he didn't turn.

“ Baby," I tried again but he still didn't turn, he was really mad at me.

Okay, he leaves me no choice.

“ Ouch, ouch, my legs, ouch," He quickly sat up.

“ Are you okay? Where does it hurt? Show me," He said as he moved closer to me and I quickly wrapped my arms around him and he caught on to my lie.

“ I'm sorry," I said as I held him tightly so he wouldn't pull away.

“ I'm sorry that I have to make you feel like I don't appreciate what you're doing for me, please don't be mad, I promise to tell you everything from henceforth,” I said as I heard him sigh before he pulled from my embrace to look at me.

“ You know someone is after your life and we need every information we can get our hands on to be able to catch this person and your uncle might just be the one behind it, so telling me things like these are very important, just look at it, last night you were almost killed in your sleep,”

" What?!” I asked him in confusion.

" I went to get you chocolate without anyone being in the room, a mistake on my part, I shouldn't have left you all by yourself, when I came to the room I found a nurse trying to inject you when you had already taken all your medications for the night, turns out she was trying to inject poison into you,” As he said that I felt my body run cold as goosebumps spread through my arms.

“ Is that…Is that why we left the hospital so early in the morning?” I asked and he nodded.

" Did they arrest her?”

" Of course, she's behind bars where she belongs.” He said.

" I want to see her, I want to know why she would try to do that, I want to know who sent her, take me to her tomorrow,” I said as I took Luca’s hand but he shook his head.

" Please,” I begged.

" No, you don't need to see her, the police would take care of everything,” He said as he pulled me close.

" I don't want you to see the face of that horrible woman, so just forget about that, the only thing you should focus on is getting better, okay,” he said and I nodded.

I felt like there was more I didn't know but I didn't push further.

Not like it was good news knowing that I would have woken up as a ghost, it's terrifying.

“ So am I forgiven?" I asked as I looked up at him with a pout and he chuckled before dropping a quick kiss on my lips.

“ Can I really stay mad at you?”

" But you didn't even want to look at me earlier,” I said.

" That's because I like it when you beg,”

" Crazy,” I said and wanted to hit his shoulder but stopped when I looked at my bandaged hand and he chuckled before taking the hand and kissing it.

" It will get better then you can hit me all you want,”

I watched as Katherine slept and I still couldn't believe that I had her here with me, on my bed beside me.

I felt like it was a dream and needed someone to pinch me. But it wasn't, the real Katherine was beside me flesh and blood.

I kissed her on her forehead, then kissed her lips before getting up from the bed.

I didn't tell her what that nurse said because what if she was wrong.

I had to get evidence of my own before saying anything to Katherine.

Because for all I know the nurse might be lying and I didn't want to be the person to cause a rift between two sisters.

I brought out my phone as I walked into my closet and closed the door behind me.

I dialed Matteo’s number and waited patiently for him to pick up.

"Mi dispiace per chiamarmi a quest'ora, ma ho bisogno che tu tenga d'occhio qualcuno per me, sappi che tutto ciò che ti chiedo di fare è vitale," I said.

" Sì capo," He said.

"Ci vediamo domani, stesso posto, stessa ora, c'è qualcosa di cui dobbiamo parlare.” I said before ending the call.

“ Sorry for calling at such an hour, but I need you to keep an eye on someone for me, know that anything I ask you to do is life saving," I said.

" Yes boss,” He said.

" Let's meet tomorrow, same place, same time, there's something we need to talk about, ” I said before ending the call.

I returned back to the room as I climbed on the bed pulling Katherine closer as her warm scent engulfed me, it was comforting and relaxing.

I fell asleep with the love of my life in my arms.

I woke up to the feeling of something pressed on my chest or rather someone as a smile took over my lips.

She was still here with me.

I slowly tried to pull away from her but she held onto me tightly mumbling something in her sleep and I couldn't help but chuckle.

I successfully pulled away from her as I walked to the bathroom, I relieved myself before brushing my teeth and walking out of the bathroom.

She was still asleep so I walked out of the room heading for the kitchen so I could make her breakfast.

“ You look exceptionally happy this morning brother, I wonder why," Anna said as soon as I entered the kitchen.

“ And you're up this early, why's that?”

" Don't make it seem like I'm a lazy ass, I'm a hardworking woman,” She said.

“ Whatever," I said as I opened the fridge to bring out things for breakfast.

“ At least you're smiling from ear to ear, you're even in the kitchen to cook,”

" Can you just get out of my way,” I said.

“ Oh before I forget, have you checked your phone this morning?" She asked.

“ No, why's that?" I asked her.
