"I can't sleep, can you help me with something?"
I push hair from her face, it was always all over her, covering her features and getting stuck in her eyes.
"Ofcourse, what is it?"
"Can I borrow some money?"
I frown
"Of Course but you have money? What do you need it for?"
Her little eyes water and her chin wobbles
"Because I want to get my family something to remember me by, I want to buy them something special so they won't forget me"
My heart constricts as she sobs, I grab her and pull her onto my knee and I hold her.
"Is that why you have been fleecing me every day for 2 months?"
She nods her head and I chuckle, I always wondered why she needed it. The kid was rich. Super duper rich, she's not spoiled but she could have anything she asked for.
"Well the answer is yes, do you know what you want to get?"
It hurt to even think about but this is what she needed to do, so I will her in any way I can, She look up at me so I wipe her little face
"No I need you to help me look on the internet"
I pull out my phone and get comfortable
"Ok princess, let's do this. What is it you want to find?"

Carly's POV
I wake up and immediately jump from bed wide eyed and sleepy, Carter mumbles as I look around for the clock. It was early but I wanted to see her so I pull myself out of bed and I creep into her room.
I roll my eyes when I find Gerald in bed beside her snoring away, the wolves lay on top of him forming a barrier between them. I shake him awake and he mumbles incoherently.
"Wake up, Carter will kill you if he finds you in bed"
His eyes snap open and he groans stretching
"Sorry she couldn't sleep, we were just talking"
"It's fine, just get up. Go home and shower and change, pack a bag and come back you can stay in the spare room for a while"
His face breaks out into a grin and he sits up
"Really? What about alpha?"
"Leave alpha to me but you need to stop giving him reason to dislike you"
He nods standing up, I follow him out of the room and to the kitchen where my parents are.
"See you after"
He tells me leaving as I sit at the table, Scott throws his arm over my shoulders and he pulls me into his arm and he kisses my head.
"You ok?"
"Nope"
I answer resting against him, closing my eyes as I accept the love that he was giving me as he held me.
"How was she when she woke up?"
Mum asks from the kitchen as she cooks
"Sore, scared, weak. Her body doesn't have the ability to heal so she will be in pain from now on. I text Ailm to send over some kiddy pain relief she said she will bring it by herself this morning and caden and Baylee are coming to talk to carter and explain that Gerald isn't a threat to Adlai"
Jaxon clicks his tongue
"So it's true? He is her mate, you owe me $20"
Jaxon nods to Scott making me smile
"Yes it's true, he didn't know until they took her but yes he is her mate"
Mum squeezes her eyes closed, shaking her head sadly at the thought of Gerald losing his one and only mate.
"Damn that's rough"
Scott mumbles, I nod my head sadly.
"Yeah, I told him he can have the spare room so he is gone to collect some things"
I hear footsteps climb the stairs so we all turn to look, Carter is carrying a very sleepy but smiling Adlai in his arms.
"Hey sweetheart, how do you feel?"
Scott asks putting his arms out to take her, Carter places her on his knee and he comes to my side kissing my head.
"Sore"
She whispers yawning as Carter lifts me up and places me on his knee. He looked as exhausted as I felt.
"Did I hear you right? You sent him to get some clothes"
I chew my lip looking up at him and I nod, instead of beating around the bush I decide to just say it straight
"Yes I did, he's a good worker and he can keep her safe as well as make her laugh. And he deserves to have this time to, so yes I told him he can stay and I'm sorry if you don't like this but I think this is for the best"
Carter smiles nodding his head
"Very well"
I raise my eyebrows in surprise as he kisses me gently, I pull back and cock my head to the side
"Very well? That's it?"
I ask him in disbelief, he clearly got out of bed on the good side this morning
"Yes your right, now be quiet and kiss me"
I chuckle and kiss him, he sucks in my bottom lip to open my mouth so I give in, his tongue softly meets my own as he deepens the kiss. I wrap my fingers in his long unruly hair and moan, needing the intimacy that he was giving me
"Ewe mummy, daddy that's gross"
I pull back and chuckle
"Yeah mummy and daddy that's disgusting"
Jaxon mocks, I flip him the bird and look to mum
"Do you need help mum?"
"No it's all done"
She answers, bringing a tray of french toast to the table. We dig in to the food, but someone knocks the door so Jaxon opens it up, Daniel, Rob, Ailm and deacon come in. Mum smiles
"Just in time, grab a plate and take a seat there is more than enough"
Carter goes stiff as a board under me, his mind going to Rob, blaming him for not watching her the way he was meant to.
"Hey princess, how do you feel?"
Ailm takes a seat beside her and she pushes a packet of kids cannabis gummies to me. I grin, lifting them and reading the back.
"Thank you Ailm I really appreciate this"
She nods her head smiling at Adlai
"If you need stronger ones let me know"
I smile pulling one out and handing it to Adlai
"Take this babe, it will help with the pain"
She takes it and pops it in her mouth and pulls a face cringing at the taste making us all giggle
"Sorry, we do try to make them taste better but it's hard"
She swallows it then dad hands her a glass of milk and she downs half the glass.
"It's ok, it just tastes weird can I have more sugar nana"
Mum stands up and sprinkles more powdered sugar over her french toast, she has the kid spoiled rotten, the sugar wasn't even far from where she was sitting and she still had mum do it for her.
