    "Why in the hell would I be there?"
   
    I shrug not sure how to answer her
   
    "We don't honestly know he just said it's important that you are, we said we would ask"
   
    She looks puzzled
   
    "It's fine, I'll go. I just wish I knew why?"
   
    "You and me both"
   
    Carter mumbles
   
    "So your telling me that we are going to confront this asshole and not kill him?"
   
    Daniel snaps glaring at nobody in particular, Carter sighs shaking his head
   
    "I didn't say that but under no circumstances will I risk my daughter's happiness or her childhood by allowing her to watch or know about death, not yet"
   
    He tells them in his no bullshit alpha voice, I squeeze his hand agreeing with him. Nobody challenges him on this, even if they didn't agree they knew better and that's all that was important.
   
    After breakfast we go about our day as normal, settling Bella into her room. Adlai was on edge but she understood now that even though it looked and felt real it wasn't real, that the images of him are just that, images.
   
    But even with that knowledge she was off, she just wasn't her bubbly normal self. After completing my tasks I take a break as she plays in the dolls house on the floor with Gerald, Bella sits with us as carter does paperwork in the office on the other side of the tv, his door was open and he had a clear view of both me and Adlai so his mind was at ease as he worked.
   
    "So did you make up with Abby"
   
    I ask her bored as I flick through the channels
   
    "Yeah, she's really not a bitch I just picked her up wrong"
   
    "Bella you can't say bad words infront of me, my brain is like a sponge, everytime you say a cuss word my head absorbs it to use later"
   
    Me and Gerald snort, it's not like we were saints but we did try to stop the cussing in front of the kids even though all kids nowadays know how to curse before they can talk.
   
    "I do apologise princess Adlai, I'll remember that for next time"
   
    Bella tells her amused, Gerald stands up clearing his throat
   
    "Coffee?"
   
    I shake my head as Bella flutters her lashes at him
   
    "Yes please ger"
   
    I froze looking at Adlai who's hand was frozen in the air, nobody but I noticed. The only person who was ever allowed to call Gerald ger was Adlai. She's always called him that and she obviously finds it strange too, especially as Bella uses such a flirty tone with him.
   
    Gerald skips off like it was no big deal, it really wasn't a big deal but Adlai may not feel that way.
   
    "I'm glad because she is coming shopping with us tomorrow"
   
    Her face falls and her eyebrow lifts in surprise
   
    "Really? Why?"
   
    She asks unimpressed
   
    "Because I asked her too, she's your brothers mate you need to get use to her, plus she has no friends here so we need to make the effort"
   
    She nods her head
   
    "Yeah I know I know, it should be fun, Adlai and Gerald can come too"
   
    She grins looking over her shoulder at Gerald with doe eyes, Cleo pushes forward pissed off
   
    "What the fuck is she doing?"
   
    I look at Adlai, her head is dropped looking at her hands, I can't see her face but I can feel sadness radiating off her, Gerald looks over his shoulder frowning in her direction. He can feel it too so I'm not crazy.
   
    "Nah let's just make it the 3 of us, between homeschooling, activities and training adlai and Gerald are usually very busy that time of the day"
   
    Bella pouts slightly, looking back at Gerald, I suppress my growl.
   
    What the hell was she doing! He is Adlais mate for heaven's sake.
   
    Gerald hands her a coffee then turns and heads outside to smoke.
   
    "Oh are you smoking? I'll join you"
   
    She jumps up and follows him out, Adlai slams the barbie on the floor and gets up glaring at her back. I open my arms but she turns and goes into the office. I follow her, Carter frowns turning in his chair as she climbs on his knee and buries her head in his chest. I close the door as she starts to sniffle.
   
    "Hey what's wrong? I'm sorry I block everything out when I'm working so I didn't see anything?"
   
    He asks looking to me
   
    "Why don't you tell us Adlai?"
   
    I didn't want to make assumptions but Carter's face hardens as he opens up, dropping the block And he listens to her thoughts.
   
    "She likes Gerald, I thought she was my friend but really she just wanted to be around him"
   
    My chest constricts at her words as Carter hugs her to his chest and she sobs.
   
    "I'm going to fucking kill him"
   
    He mouths to me
   
    "Maybe she does but that doesn't mean he likes her"
   
    I offer, Carter takes a calming breath trying to rein in his anger before he talks
   
    "Your mums right love, maybe she does but I bet he doesn't"
   
    She pulls back wiping her face, she was exhausted, scared, and confused. Add these feelings of jealousy in and you have a very emotional little girl.
   
    "Are you sure?"
   
    "Of Course love, all he sees is you, you might be his little sister right now but he is loyal to you and only you"
   
    She nods her head yawning
   
    "Thank you, can I watch a movie?"
   
    She sniffles sadly, she clearly didn't want to talk about it anymore, Carter wipes the last of her tears from her face
   
    "Of Course you can, infact I'm nearly done here so we can watch one in the movie room if you like"
   
    "Yes I can make popcorn"
   
    I tell her, she grins at me
   
    "Yes please I know exactly what I want to watch"
   
    Carter groans
   
    "Oh hell no, anything but beauty and the beast"
   
    I chuckle as Adlai pouts
   
    "What about hotel Transylvania?"
   
    He offers and she grins
   
    "Yes let's watch that one"
   
    She hugs me quickly then leaves the room and she goes back to her doll house, his face falls so I close the door.
   
    "What the fuck, is he encouraging her?"
