"Yes, we can all go"
"Does that mean I get a new dress?"
Adlai asks looking to dad, he grins at her
"Hell yes it does, me and you will go shopping tomorrow when your mum and dad catch up on some work"
She squeaks in excitement as Gerald groans, probably hating the thought of shopping with dad. He's a little extreme but he is the best at what he does.
"What about deacon and Ailm?"
Jaxon asks mum, she screws up her face and shrugs
"What about them?"
She asks stubbornly, I roll my eyes at her. What they said was wrong but they can't continue to fight over it. If they do it will just be awkward.
"Would it not be better to accept their apologies but then stay away from them? See them at functions and pass yourself but don't have them come here?"
Carter groans shaking his head
"Your too forgiving"
He snaps
"And you're not forgiving enough Carter, why make it awkward for the entire family because of what they said. Believe me I'm not happy about it either and it's the last time I trust them but forgiving them and moving past it is for us and not them."
Carter smirks at me
"That sounds like something Jesus would say"
"It is something he would say, he gave us back our daughter and all he has ever asked of me is to try to forgive the unforgivable. That doesn't mean we continue to put up with their crap, it just means we have set ourselves free of them."
"She's right, we shouldn't continue to make the rest of the family awkward over what they said and thought"
Jaxon adds smiling at me, Carter purges his lips
"Well when you put it like that maybe it's worth the pain of forgiveness"
Carter says, staring at Adlai adoringly. He loves that girl more than life itself. He loves me just as much but even I feel it. Our love for her is different. He kisses my cheek smiling at me as mum huffs, dads staring at her with his brow in the air
"Fine I'll forgive them but I'm not going to stand back and let them say that shit about my babies"
She tells dad stubbornly, he grins at her leaning over and placing a gentle kiss on her lips
"Thank you"
She smirks at him and nods
"Your welcome"
"So Carly, when will the house be ready to move into?"
Scott asks me, changing the subject. He was clearly on mums side about the entire thing but he never talked about it because it pissed him off too much.
"Well I'm waiting for some things from Africa that are being made so it will be a few weeks before you get to move in. But you can't peek before then"
I tell them all, I wanted it to be a surprise. Plus I love the compliments when they see it for the first time. Their house was bigger than ours, it had an extra bottom floor with bedrooms on it for any family that came to visit, plus they were hoping it would make my grandparents visit more.
"I wouldn't dream of peeking, but I am excited"
Dad tells me, we had also been secretly collecting stuff to make adlais room into a full blown princess room. I was very excited about it. She deserves something that is just about her after everything she has been through.
"Can me and Gerald watch a movie in my room?"
Adlai asks Carter, he looks to Gerald and nods
"Yes you can"
"But you need to promise that you will try and sleep princess, you have a long day tomorrow"
I add she nods her head. We finish dinner then we all go outside to play hide and seek with sluagh and Adlai, the aim of the game is she will find them as they run around and zero in on only one and try to put them asleep. They won't actually fall asleep because Jesus had made her abilities not work on them but it did make them momentarily dizzy.
So when she successfully makes them dizzy one at a time without looking at where they are and using just a little of her powers then she wins the game.
We had been trying loads of different ways to keep training fun for them both, make it exciting enough for them to want to train, to want to win.
They needed to build a bond so strong that they won't lock each other out, that they will work together and use each other to protect each other and hopefully sluagh will build a conscience of her own, enough to not want to hurt anyone on purpose unless she has reason to of course.
Both myself and Carter cast out a barrier so nobody but us can be affected by Adlais powers.
"Ok princess tonight instead of sluagh coming forward on her own I want you both to merge and use her powers. So you will be there helping her control them"
She nods her head looking a little puzzled
"I'm not sure how to do that?"
Carter kneels in front of her
"Sluagh is up front in your mind right now isn't she?"
"Yes"
She answer
"Ok so sluagh I need you to stay where you are and let your powers flow through Adlai so your both up front and she learns how to control them too"
Adlai nods her head and her aura changes just slightly, getting a little darker on the inside and brighter on the outside as they merge and become one. Carter pulls the blindfold out of his pocket and ties it over Adlais' eyes then he nods to us and we all take off running through the trees around her.
"Ok Adlai I need you to find popa Jax and make him dizzy"
She nods and I watch her aura stretch out as she looks for him, he runs around through the trees. Suddenly her aura catches him as he runs and I watch as black mist pulls from his nose and he stumbles slightly catching a tree.
"Good girl now find mummy"
She lets Jaxon go and he shakes himself slightly stopping by the tree, she finds me almost immediately and she tries to pull power from me but it doesn't work but I can feel her try and that's enough. I nod to Carter and he smiles
"Amazing now do nana"
We continue this for around 30 minutes and she did amazing. When we get back to the house she smiles at Carter sweetly, she loved to save money, we don't exactly know why but it was a great Way to keep her focused so Carter pulls out his wallet and hands her a $20 bill.
"Thank you"
She says sweetly, making me giggle, the girl was hilarious. It's not like anyone in our family ever needed money but it was a good quality to have. She grabs Geralds hand and yanks him towards the stairs, I squeak, stopping them.
"Pyjamas first princess"
She sighs heavily, rolling her eyes and walking down the stairs on her own. Gerald chuckles and heads to his own room. I follow Adlai and help her get changed and I brush her hair out and plait it so it's out of her face.
