She shakes her head, Luca looks on guard
"She pretended to be Adlai's friend to get close to Gerald because in Her and penny's opinion Adlai isn't real family, that she was going to have at least a good 10 years of fun with Gerald before Adlai comes of age but Gerald made it pretty damn clear he didn't want her,"
I say pointing my cup towards the door where Gerald had just disappeared through
"she suggested that he just took a chosen mate aka her! She doesn't give a shit about us or Adlai and I'd go as far as saying she's a damn danger to have around, so I don't know where she went but I'm glad it's far away from me and my family"
"And if she ever shows her face around here again I'll put her in the dungeons"
Carter adds as Luca and aspens mouth open and close and I snort putting my finger in the air
"And this bit was the funniest bit, she pretended to hate Abby so she could come stay with Gerald. What if someone pretended to hate someone so they could move in with you both to steal aspen of you Luca?"
He growls glaring at me
"I get it! Don't make me fucking visualise it"
I shrug
"Fine I won't, but all we have done is try to fucking help and for her to do this? You know what I'm done with this family, I can't go anywhere without there being drama here and there but to go as low as she went is fucked up and if this is all because of penny's influence I think you have a real problem on your hands because that girl is fucked up"
I slam my cup down deciding it's just not enough to take the edge of my anger and I go to my drinks cabinet and I pull out some whiskey and open the bottle. I down a few gulp and turn to them all
"Look what you have made me into! I'm drinking out of a fucking bottle! A bottle!!"
I snap drinking some more, Carter takes the bottle and sets it on the bench and he pulls me into his chest, I take a deep breath and I calm my breathing not actually realising how angry and crazy I felt.
"Sssssssssh baby it's going to be ok"
He lifts his head and he glares at everyone in the room
"I'm just letting you all know that this family bullshit is just that, Carly goes out of her fucking way to help you all. I personally don't give a fucking crap but when MY Carly ends up in this fucking shape I am not happy! So take your bullshit and leave us alone. We won't be helping from here on out, we won't be going to events, we won't be doing any of it. Not anymore and if you don't like it, blame your fucking daughter!"
He runs his hands through my hair and down my back to my ass, he pulls me up and I bury my head in the crook of his neck, closing my eyes and just sniffing him.
"I think he is right, I think you should leave for now and deal with your daughter yourselves"
Mum tells them, that's when I shut off my mind, not wanting to deal with anything anymore. Carter sets us on the sofa, pulling me around so I'm resting on his lap. He runs his fingers through my hair and he hands me the remote
"Just block it all out, it's just you and me and our family and nobody else"
I try to do as he says, flicking through the channels and I ignore the pain and confusion and I just watch tv with my family.

After dinner we do training with Adlai and sluagh for a little while then end the night with a movie and some brownies before bed. We tuck Adlai into bed, trying to get back to our usual routine before Derek and Bella.
I craved our family routine and the love we share. I love being a mummy, I love being a wife. I didn't love cooking but I loved that my mum did.
Our days pass relatively quickly, we move our parents into their new home, Daniel and Rob decided to stay at there old house and me, Carter, Adlai and Gerald stayed in our house but it didn't change much other then we walked to mums house morning, noon and night for dinner instead of having it in our own kitchen.
We had been allowing play dates again, testing the water with how Adlai would mix with kids again, if she could hold sluagh back like she did when we were around and I've got to say so far it's been pretty easy but we still didn't want to send her back to school, for one that's a lot of exposure to a lot of kids and 2 I'd miss her too much, Gerald loved to homeschool her and I loved to help.
Today was Gerald's 18th birthday, we would be having a breakfast at my parents house for him this morning and then dinner with his family Tonight. Adlai was so excited, she even painted the wrapping paper and helped mum bake his cake, if she could have I think she would have made the candles to sit on top just so it was special.
She was a special little girl, one who loved to make an effort to show those people just how much she loves them. That's a really special quality to have in my opinion.
Adlai opens his door and sprints into his room to find him.
"Gerald, where are you?"
"In the shower"
She growls huffing and sitting on the end of his bed.
"Hurry up!"
She snaps making me chuckle
"Come on you can say hey when he's finished"
I tell her, holding out my hand for her to take. She sighs heavily, annoyed that she has to be patient and she takes my hand. She sits on the top step tapping her little foot sighing loudly.
"Adlai love, he's not going to move any faster because your tapping your foot"
Carter tells her, clearly irritated by her impatience. He hands me a cup of coffee and I sniff it moaning. It tasted just as good as it smelled. Geralds door opens and he casually walks out not realising how important this was to Adlai.
"Gerald happy birthday"
She squeals, running and launching herself into his arms. He catches her squeezing her tight.
"My gosh your awake this morning"
He says chuckling
"I wanted to be the first person to tell you happy birthday so I woke up early just for you"
She tells him proudly, he pushes his bottom lip out getting emotional as he hugs her
"That means so much to me princess, so so much to me"
She hugs him tight then pulls back as he places her on his hip and walks the rest of the way up the stairs as we tell him happy birthday too. Adlai was finished waiting and she was ready to give him his presents and it was so adorable, I don't think I've ever seen a kid so excited for someone else's birthday before. Gerald carries Adlai to mums house and Adlai was just buzzing
"Nana, can we do presents first?"
She purges her lips
"Well I don't see why not, you have waited long enough I think"
Mum teases her, she claps her hands then goes to the little bag and carries it over to Gerald.
"I saved up and got you this with my own money so I hope you like it"
He smiles opening the box, he gasps pulling it out and he looks to me in confusion
"Adlai worked hard to find the perfect present in her budget and I think she did amazing, didn't she"
He was choked up as he turns back to Adlai, tears in his eyes and a huge grin on his face
"Adlai this is so so perfect"
He wipes his face with one hand and he clears his throat
"I love it so much and I'll wear it everyday"
He tells her, she points to the side as he pulls it out
"I got writing on it too"
The poor boy was so emotional, tears just started and wouldn't stop.
"To Gerald happy 18th love from Adlai"
He reads it out then he puts it on and he shows it to her
