Chapter 33

Chapter 33: Agreement

"Veda will seek for me because I have the throne. I will be the king of this world. She can have it if she deserves it better than I am!" Rosh's voice thundered inside that room.

I didn't know everything going on between them, but the only thing that cleared at that moment was the intensity of Rosh's words with Pryor, Marah, and Tobias's reactions— as if it was a declaration of war.

I couldn't help but look outside of the window as if the heavens felt the tension inside this room, the sky darkened, the wind blew harshly with the curtains, and it started raining.

Marah gasped, took a step back, and covered her mouth, Pryor's eyes widened, while Tobias didn't even move an inch.

Everyone was unmoved, enveloped in silence, broken by the sound of the wind, and the splash of the raindrops against the window. I felt cold, scared, and lost.

What is going on? Who are these siblings? Why do I have this feeling that they are about to kill each other? Why can't I remember anything? How did I end up in this situation?

Wala sa sarili kong muling napahawak sa aking noo dahil sa biglang pagsakit niyon, at nang mapansin ni Tobias ang reaksyon kong iyon ay akma siyang muling lalapit sa akin nang tumalim ang mga mata ko sa kanya.

"K-Ke—" He closed his eyes, shook his head, and looked forward.

"Tama na iyan, Rosh, Pryor," babala niya.

Iritableng binitawan ni Rosh si Pryor na muling dumaosdos sa pader, lumingon sa posisyon ko si Marah na matalim ang titig sa akin.

I could feel it. Pryor and Marah's hatred of me. Kahit naman hindi nila ako hantarang ituro, alam kong mainit na ang dugo nila sa akin sa paraan pa lang ng pagtitig.

I had this urge to get off my bed and escape from these siblings, but I knew that it could be the worst move at that moment. Baka hindi na na namalayan na sa akin na pala tumama ang atake ng isa sa kanila. Lalo na't nasaksihan ko na ang pinsala na nagagawa nila sa isa't isa.

How could someone easily lift someone's body like that? How could someone pin someone on the wall like that? Who are these people?

Nanatili muling nakasalampak sa sahig si Pryor. "Narinig mo ba ang sinabi ng kapatid mo, Tobias?" tanong ni Pryor.

"I thought you never wanted the throne, now you're willing to take it from your brother— your twin at—" hindi maituloy ni Marah ang sasabihin niya dahil muling nagsalita si Rosh.

He was still towering Pryor as he placed his hands on his waist. "I think you failed to understand, Marah Heloise, my dear sister, my words. Tobias can still have the Deltora, I deserve a bigger throne."

Kapwa umawang ang bibig nina Marah at Pryor. Napansin ko pa na kapwa ang mga iyon lumingon kay Tobias na tila naghahanap dito ng kasagutan, ngunit nanatili itong tahimik habang nakatitig sa likuran ni Rosh.

"Y-you mean . . ." Marah gasped. "You're insane."

"Aagawan mo si Dastan? I thought this kingdom has pledged an eternal alliance . . . I don't understand," naiiling na sabi ni Pryor.

And then Rosh laughed in front of us. "Of course, because I am way better than Dastan. Kaya umayos ka Pryor dahil sa sandaling umupo na ako sa trono, baka hindi ka na makalabas sa kabaong mo."

He even flicked Pryor's forehead before he turned his back. Agad dumalo si Marah kay Pryor, handa pa sana itong magsalita nang sapilitan na siyang hilahin ng kapatid niyang babae sa labas ng silid.

Nang sandaling wala na roon sina Marah at Pryor, kapwa napabuntonghininga sina Rosh at Tobias. Ibinaba na ni Rosh ang kanyang mga kamay mula sa kanyang baywang at naupo siya sa paanan ng kama ko. Pinagkrus niya ang kanyang mga hita at braso bago lumingon sa akin.
