Chapter 52: Promise

Unlike the previous days when everything around Deltora was dark clouds, endless rain, thunder, and lightning, the whole kingdom is now filled with sunlight, sweet fragrance, and bright colors of blooming flowers— as if welcoming the arrival of spring.

It was as if everything around us had glimmers of the dust of diamonds— as if the pixies busied themselves showering it around the castle.

I sighed and leaned my back on the window frame, arms crossed across my stomach as I followed my gaze behind his back. Claret and I were both standing near the window as we watched Tobias, Rosh, Zen and the other princes of the prophecy leave the castle early in the morning.

I waited for Tobias to look over his shoulder to glance at me, but he seemed occupied with his conversation with his brother and the other princes.

I've been hearing a lot about it, but I never thought that Tobias would be this involved. All I thought Tobias would be sitting on his throne with his men presenting him the details of the event.

I awkwardly smiled. "It's okay.

It's not just Tobias and Rosh.

Deltora's the kingdom with the richest culture and tradition. And they are proud of it."

"I've been attending their Water Festival, but I didn't know the extent of their preparation. Rosh and Tobias seem happy with all of these."

I couldn't help but smile, because Tobias sent a butterfly made of water. I was about to touch the water, but I stopped myself. And he was always careful not to touch me when he was trying to wield his power.

He told me that soon I'd be able to enjoy his power again, all we had to do was wait. She was thinking if it was part of my defense mechanism or was it really a part of those witches' curse.

The water mimicked the usual form of a small pixie and danced in front of me, before it shattered and sprinkled like raindrops.

"Sweet," nakangiting sabi ni Claret. "Zen gave me a snow globe and made a lot of snowmen before."

"He doesn't look sweet. Si Zen . . ." komento ko.
