That night Jay stayed awake laying in bed, Racquel was asleep next to him her arm on his waist and her head in his chest. He longed to join her sleeping but he couldn't stop his mind from racing about the events which were to happen the next day. All he could think about was who his biological mother was? why now was she contacting him? Why did she leave him on the doorstep of a police station when he was less than 6 months old. What happened in the first six months for her to do such a thing? Was he that bad of a child that she couldn't stand him? He longed for these answers and had done for the last 20 years.

He closed his eyes, begging them to shut properly so he could drift off. His eyes were starting to sting. He shut them and slowly began to drift off to sleep at around 3AM.

Racquel woke up and reached for Jay, he wasn't there. This had happened the last few mornings, he hadn't really slept properly since he got the message from Fiona. She had felt him being restless in the night and getting up in the early hours. She was glad today was the day he may get some answers. She couldn't imagine how he felt, but she was trying to be so supportive. She knew he appreciated it.
She rolled over and looked at the time, it was 8am. She wondered how long Jay had been awake.

She got out of bed and put on her gown. She walked out of the bedroom, down the stairs and into the lounge. She saw the decking doors open. Jay was in his usual spot when he needed to think. She put the mug under the coffee machine and it poured a cappuccino into her mug. She took a sip and then walked onto the decking. Jay was sat on the bench, she walked over and kissed his head softly. He looked up and smiled. She leaned down and kissed him, she then sat in his lap and he wrapped his arms around her waist. "I love you" she whispered "I love you too" he smiled as she kissed him softly "what are you thinking?" she asked. He began to draw circles on her leg "I'm just nervous about today, meeting my biological mum. I just have so many questions and I'm nervous about how it's going to go. Will she like me...I just don't want to be by her abandoned again" he said. She lay her head on his chest "if she does that, it's her loss. And I'm not just saying that, you have me, your parents, Tom and my girls who adore you. If you're not good enough for her then no one is" she said "you are the kindest, sweetest and most wonderful man I have ever met and if she can't see that then that is on her" she said. He kissed her head "thanks beautiful" he said. She looked up at him and he kissed her softly.

Jay pulled in at the cafe. He let out a deep breath, and got out of his Mustang. He got out and walked into the cafe. He ordered a coffee and a water and sat in the corner. He checked his phone. He had a text from Racquel.

Racquel: Good luck baby. If she doesn't accept you, then thats on her. I love you so much, you are my favourite person ❤️❤️

He smiled. God he loved this girl.

"Jay?" he heard. He looked up and saw a middle aged woman standing there. She smiled "I'm your mum" she said. Jay stood up and they embraced one another. "Hi...I've been waiting for this moment for 32 years" she said. He smiled a little, he had also been waiting along time for this. "How was your drive" he asked not really knowing what to say "good thanks. Yeah I live about an hour away. How about you?" she said as they sat down "I'm just 10 minutes away in Santa Monica" he said. She nodded. The waiter came over and they ordered lunch. They smiled and thanked him as he walked away "I can't believe your sitting here to be honest" she said. Jay smiled. She looked at him "I bet you wanted to know what happened?" she asked. "If you'd like to tell me, I'd love to hear" he said. She nodded "okay here goes. When I was 18, I got a scholarship to Oxford university to study biomedicine. Halfway through my sophomore year a new tutor arrived, his name was Charles. He was charming, intelligent and handsome, even though he was married, girls including me fawned over him. Anyway I ended up in one of his classes and he took a shine to me. At the time I was working at a local restaurant as a waitress so I could be pay for rent and bills. My parents werent poor but they also weren't rich so I had to figure it out. Those tutoring sessions turned into car rides home and they turned into drinks at a sleazy bar the other side of Oxford. That happened for a few months, we began kissing in the car and making our after hours in the classroom. I asked about his wife and he said he wasn't happy anymore and that he had fallen out of love. A few months later, he got invited to attend a conference in Manchester. He asked me to go with him as his assistant. I was delighted. We went and after the conference we had one to many drinks at the hotel bar and spent the night together. Woke up the next morning not thinking much of it, we went back to reality. We carried on seeing each other after hours in the classroom and the car. I was late for my period and began feeling nauseous, so I went to the doctors did a pregnancy test and I was pregnant. I was in shock, I can from a deeply religious family who didn't believe in sex before marriage. I told Charles and he told me he would divorce his wife as soon as possible and we could start a new life, just us three. I was  a naive 19 year old. I didn't tell my parents...Charles never left his wife. A month before I was due he told me he had a job offer at Durham university and that he and his wife Mary were going to start fresh. He apologised that he couldn't be the man I wanted and he didn't want to apart of our childs life. It was a bit of fun and he didn't want to ruin his marriage over it. I went home and cried. I knew I had no other option but to tell my parents. I rang and confessed, they were so ashamed they wanted nothing to do with me. I was a disgrace....a month later you were born. I loved you like I had loved nothing else before, but life was so hard I had to drop out of college to work extra hours we lived in a bedsit and other lodgers were complaining of the noise.  When you were three months old I got a letter from my parents they had spoken to the preacher and he said as long as I repented and gave you to someone who could care for you I would be allowed back home and back in the church. My mother commented saying that I wouldn't be able to give you a life you deserve and I knew in my heart she was right. So after two months of recieving that letter, I told my parents okay, I didn't know how to go through the proper channels so instead I left you on the doorstep of a police station I then flew back home" Fiona said. Jay sat there speechless "wow" he said.
