Just In Time Part 7

Jay watched as Selena left his apartment. He couldn't help the tears from stinging his eyes. His phone then buzzed on the table. He hoped it would be Selena. He grabbed it quickly. It was his friend Tom in the group chat.

Beer boys??

Jay stared at the wall, what if she changed her mind and wanted to talk to him or was that it and they were definitely over.

His phone then began to ring. He answered it.

"Hello" he said "hey mate are you coming tonight?? Or you too busy with selenaaa?" Tom teased. "Uh no not with her anymore" Jay said the tears were starting to burn his eyes again "what do you mean?!" Tom asked "she uh just ended things. Said she wasn't ready for a long distance relationship" Jay said "Oh shit mate. You at yours?" he asked "Yeah" he said "stay there I'm on my way with beers and pizza" Tom said "mate I do-" he was interrupted by Tom "no you need your mates tonight! I'm on my way, see you in about half an hour" Tom said.

Jay put his phone down and turned on the TV, to try and distract himself from...her.

Before he knew it there was a knock on the door. Jay jumped up and ran over thinking it would be Selena. He swung the door open and saw Tom. His face dropped a little. "Nice to see you too" Tom said. "No sorry pal. I just uh" he said. Tom put the beers and pizza down and hugged his best friend tightly. Jay returned the hug. They spent the rest of the evening drinking beer, eating pizza and watching sports. It would've been a perfect night for Jay if it wasn't for his broken heart.

Jay woke up, it had been four months since he had been dumped. He was doing better, he had been focusing on his friends and his career. He found out two months ago that Selena had gone public with her new boyfriend who was a producer. It sounded like she had been talking to him whilst they were hanging out. That was when he knew he had to brush himself off and get on with his life.

He got ready and dressed, he left his apartment and was walking down the hall, a girl then crashed into him as well as the luggage she was carrying. "Oh shit I am so sorry" she said "no problem" he said. He helped her up "Are you okay?!" he asked. He couldn't help but notice how pretty she was, she had blonde hair and a slim build. He couldn't help but feel like he was floating when he looked in her eyes. She put s strand of hair behind her ear, she smiled "I'm good thankyou! Are you?!" she asked "yeah I'm good. No harm done. Do you need a hand with your luggage" he asked "I'd love some" she smiled blushing.

He grabbed some luggage, and followed her down the hall. They got closer to Selena's apartment. No, no, no. He thought as she got the key out and opened the door. She smiled at him, she saw his face fall a bit. "what's wrong?" she asked "You know Selena ?" he asked "yeah don't remind me I'm her assistant slash one of her best friends. Why?!" she asked. "We uh kind of dated. Last time she was here" he said "oh?! She never mentioned you..." she said. Jay was taken aback a little as he was hurt. "Glad to see I made an impression on her" Jay said. "Well uh thanks for your help" she said with a smile. "No problem anytime. I better go, see you around" he said smiling. "Thankyou by the way. Can I repay you, by buying you a drink?" she asked. "Yeah I'd like that, but what about Selena?" he asked her "what about her?! I'm asking if you want to grab a drink not to get married" she laughed "Good point" he said "Besides ive flown in early to get some things sorted. She lands here in a few days" she said. Jay nodded. "I'm Racquel by the way" she said "Jay" he said with a smile. Racquel locked the door and they walked down to the bar in the complex.
