Two Months Later

Jay packed his final suitcase. He and Racquel had together made the decision for him to move out to LA. They needed to give this relationship a proper shot and because of their careers and the cost of flights they couldn't always be flying over to see each other. And even being on facetime for two months was hard. Both their careers were important but at this point it made more sense for Jay to move over to LA as his contract was ending and he would be a free agent. All the stars had aligned for him to leave NYC.

He told Racquel he was flying out in the morning but he had booked an earlier flight, for that night. He had messaged Selena and asked if it was alright, as he didn't want to be distracting Racquel. She was more than happy to help. She had said that she was performing that night but would give his name so he could get backstage. She had said that Racquel had really missed him and spoke about him to whoever would listen. She really liked Jay for Racquel and would always support their relationship. This was echoed by Courtney and Ashley.

He left the apartment for the final time. He had given it to Tom to soften the blow as Tom's lease was up, Jay thought it was the least he could do. He had all his stuff in storage to be flown over to California in the morning. He had gifted his car to his brother. His family and friends were concerned and rightly so, he had only known this girl for a few months and all of a sudden he was moving across the country to be with her. But he had to follow his heart and that was with her. He walked to the elevator and got in. He got to the ground floor and was greeted by his family and Tom who wanted to say goodbye. He hugged Tom. "I'll see you soon brother" he said as they embraced "I'll come out and see you real soon okay" Tom said. Jay nodded "sounds good mate" he said. They had been best friends for over a decade always by each other's side. This was one of the hardest goodbyes. Jay gave him the keys to the apartment. They slapped hands and hugged one last time, before Jay got in the car, with his family to go to the airport.

Greg, Jays stepdad got his luggage out. Jay hugged his siblings tightly. Greg put his suitcase down "alright son" he said. Jay hugged his stepdad and then hugged his mum tightly. Jay loved his mum and they were so close. This was the one goodbye he was dreading. He hated saying goodbye to his mum. They then pulled away "call me as soon as you land okay" Emma said "I will" he said "Be good and send our love to Racquel" she said fixing his jacket trying not to cry. "I will" he said before kissing his mum on the cheek and giving her another hug. Emma's eyes started to tear up, she wiped them "go you need to make sure you go through security in time. I love you my darling boy. I'm so proud of you" she said "Thanks mum and love you too and I'll see you soon" he said. "I love you guys" he said before waving to them and leaving to go into the airport.

Jay stood in line for security. He was so excited about his future but also a little sad to leave everyone. He looked at the wallpaper on his phone. It was him and Racquel on the night they told each other they loved one another. This was why he was doing this.

He went through security and then into the terminal whilst he was on his phone at the side checking his flight time.

A young boy then approached him, he noticed him "Hiya mate" he said with a smile "your Jay Wise!" he said in a Scottish accent. "I am mate" he said. The young boy looked at him gobsmacked. An older woman then approached them "Jack there you are. I'm sorry he loves you. He was gutted when you retired" his mum said "no problem at all. Would you like a photo?" he asked. The boy nodded with glee. His mum took a photo of them. "Thankyou Jay! What are you doing at the airport are you going on your holidays?!" he asked "Jack don't be nosey" the boys mother said. "No it's fine. I'm going to see my girlfriend" he smiled. "Is she pretty?" he asked "the prettiest" he said. Jay showed him his wallpaper "wow she's pretty" Jack nodded. "Do you play rugby?" Jay asked as he crouched down. Jack nodded "what position?" Jay asked "I'm a prop just like you. Look!" he said as he showed him the back of his shirt, which had Jays name and number on. "Hang on" he said as he rummaged in his bag. He found a Sharpie and signed his shirt, he then gave him a scrum cap. "Now this is my lucky scrum cap. I wore it in every international I ever played in. As I'm now retired I won't need it. Can you look after it for me?" he asked Jack. His mother smiled and thanked Jay. Jack nodded and took the scrum cap from him "thankyou Jay" he said and hugged him. "Alright take care now mate" he said and hugged him one last time before Jay ran to his sister to show what he just got given. Jacks mum walked over "thankyou so much for your kindness. It means so much" she smiled "Anytime. I'm happy to say hello every time I see a young lad or girl who watches rugby" he said. "You didn't have to give him your scrum cap" she said "eh I'm not gonna need it. I'd rather pass it onto the next generation of players. It may be a bit big for now though" he chuckled. Jacks mum nodded "yes that maybe true. Thankyou again. It means a lot to him. His dad is undergoing cancer treatment in New York and we're having to fly back today to get back in time for the school holidays ending in a few days" she said "oh I'm so sorry" he said "we flew out in hopes that the operation would be successful. But there's been some hiccups along the way and now he won't be having it till next week. So we won't be able to be here" she said. Jay looked over at Jack and his sister. He noticed the young girl was wearing a Harry Potter t-shirt. "Your daughter like harry potter?" he asked "she loves it. I swear we watch the series of films at least twice a month" she laughed. Jay chuckled.

Jay then had an idea "If it's okay with you. Tom Felton who plays Draco in Harry Potter is my best friend and I'm sure he'd be happy to do a video message or something like that. And I can get in touch with Scotland rugby and get you some free tickets" he said. Jacks mum looked at him bewildered "really?! Why" she asked "cause I can" he said whilst giving her the phone to put her email in. "Awh they will be thrilled. Can I give a hug?" he said "Of course" he said. They hugged "God bless you. You are a credit to your parents" she said. "thankyou" he said. The tannoy then said the last call for her and her family's flight. "oh we better go...thankyou for everything" she said with a smile. The three waved at Jay before they left.
