Just In Time Part 2

Later on that night.

Selena sat in bed that night, she was scrolling through Jay's instagram. He was so handsome and she saw the videos of him playing rugby which made her even more attracted to him. She scrolled to the top and her finger hovered over the follow button. She was unsure, she didn't want to seem desperate or that she was moving too quickly. She then got a message from Zayn. 

Hey you, still on for drink at Nobu next week? 

"Shit" she muttered, she completely forgot she agreed to have drinks with Zayn next weekend when she flew back to L.A, she replied. 

S: Yeah sure. I fly into LAX tomorrow. So could do Monday night? 

Z: Awesome meet you at 8pm

S: See you then. 

Selena put her phone down on the nightstand and put on the TV, trying to distract herself from the fact that she had Zayn in L.A who was obviously interested in her and he was fun and interesting. He knew the lifestyle of a pop star and understood it. But then there was Jay, he was funny, kind and there was something about him. She felt the feeling that she had with Justin, that she never thought she'd feel again. But was it too soon. She didn't want her heart to break again

Jay was in the training gym on Tuesday morning, he hadn't heard anything from Selena but he guessed that she was busy and he didn't want to bother her. She had followed him on Instagram and he had sent her a message, but he had no reply. He picked up his phone in between reps and checked his Instagram, just in case she had replied. On his feed, there was a paparazzi video of Selena and Zayn leaving Nobu last night, her hand in his. His heart sunk a little, he knew it was too good to be true, he wasn't going to be her NYC fling. He went on to Instagram and unfollowed her, he was over it. This wasn't going to happen again. He then focused on doing more reps. His phone then buzzed, it was his mum inviting him over for dinner. Ever since he moved back to NYC his mum had cooked nearly every meal for him as she said he looked skinny. But it would take his mind off things. He agreed and said he'd be over around 7 p.m. tonight. He got up and hit the showers, he had a busy day of apartment hunting to do. 

Jay spent the day with his real estate agent looking at apartments in New York. He had spent hours looking around different apartment complexes. He was on the final one "So this is the final one we have for today, and I honestly think its a winner. It has a gym, swimming pool and bar. It is only down the road from shops and restaurants" Jenny said as she walked in with Jay. "The one that is up for sale is on the top floor, follow me" Jenny smiled. Jay nodded and followed her. He took one look at the apartment and he loved it. "where do I sign" he asked "Fabulous, come by my office tomorrow and you can sign the paperwork" she said "Amazing, thanks Jenny" he said before shaking her her hand. They then said goodbye and agreed they would see each other the next day at the estate agent office.

Jay began to walk down the street to the subway, when his phone buzzed. It was his old friend Tom, asking him if he fancied a few drinks tonight at a local bar called Digby's at 8pm, Matt their other friend was going to be there as well. He replied he'd see them there. He was looking forward to seeing his friends tonight, he hadn't seen them in a few months and it was always nice to see them and see what they were upto.

Jay walked into the bar that evening, and saw Tom and Matt at the other end of the room, he ordered a beer at the bar and walked over to them. "Hi boys" he smiled. They both smiled and said hello and give him a hug, Jay sat down. "How's things lads?" he asked. Tom told him about what he had been doing and that he had a new film coming out and Matt told him about his new married life and how he had been auditioning and got cast in a new series. "How about you mate? how's life in the states?" Tom asked before taking a sip of beer. "yeah good mate, it's nice to be near my family again. As much as I loved playing in the UK and doing internationals. I'm 32 next year and I'm not where I was 10 years ago and the talent coming through is phenomenal. Besides I couldn't pass on an opportunity like this, to coach and captain is great. Because it will get me into the coaching side when I decide to hang my boots up" he said "It's just getting Americans interested in the sport" Matt said "Yeah that's part of the challenge, well we have a great squad it's just getting bums on seats in the ground" he said. "You'll be all good mate, I'm sure in time people will become more interested" Tom said "Yeah you are right" he said "How's the dating life" Matt asked with a raised eyebrow "non-existent" Jay said "what about Selena?" Tom asked "what how did you know?" he laughed. Tom looked at him "Julie" he said "of course it was, I wouldn't expect any less" Jay laughed "Yeah it was straight in the group chat" Matt laughed "Oh great, well nothing happened anyway, she has a boyfriend...I think" he said "you think?" Matt asked "I don't know, I saw pictures of her and that Zayn guy holding hands leaving Nobu, the other night. I just wish I'd known before as I like her" Jay "they could be casually dating or he could just be helping her through the papz?" Tom suggested. Jay shrugged "maybe, I don't know" he said. "Just ask her upfront, then you know. So you can move on or make a move" he said. Jay nodded, and they looked at him "what now?" he asked "No time like the present" he said.  Jay got his phone out and went onto Instagram, he started to type.
