••Jen's POV••

After five and a half hours of watching reruns of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, it's almost time for me to fly back to Hawaii. I almost don't want to leave, but I know the sooner I get back to filming, the faster I can come back to California for good--until I have to go away again. It sucks that I have to travel for my job, but I'm doing what I love, so I have to compromise.

I drove my moms car back to our house, because I didn't bring any other clothes with me. The driveway was full of parked paparazzi cars. I'm sure they didn't expect to see me, because nobody knows I'm in town--or they didn't, but now they do. I made sure I was careful last night and I bought a hat and a pair of sunglasses at the airport.

We haven't really talked about it, but I want Maddie to learn some self defense. Even though Nick is behind bars, there are still some creeps out there who could hurt her if they ever got the chance.

Dr. Kindle, Maddie's therapist, called me a few days ago to talk to me about enrolling her in some kind of sport and I think it's a good idea.

I press pause on the TV, "Maddie?"

She comes in from the kitchen, holding a bowl of freshly popped popcorn.

"Popcorn!" I scream and dive for the bowl.

She shakes her head laughing and hands the bowl over to me.

She sits down beside me and reaches for the remote, but I move it over.

"What was that for?" She reached for it again, "Jen!" I could tell she was getting annoyed.

I chuckled, "I need to talk to you."

"Okay," she sits up, "Is something wrong?"

"I talked to Dr. Kindle a few days go and she said that you should join a sport." I pause and study her face, which is expressionless, "I know we faintly talked about it when you were discharged from the hospital, but doing a sport is a great stress reliever."

She nods her head, "I remember."

"So..." I trail off, "Do you have any sports in mind that you might wanna try?"

••Maddie's POV••

I shrug.

"Well when I was a kid," Jen started, "I did cheerleading and field hockey--I don't know if those interest you though."

I shake my head, thinking.

Romeo has been talking a lot recently how much he loves to play "futball" which is called soccer in America. He even showed me some tricks with his soccer ball after school Wednesday. It seems fun and doesn't require the use of hands (unless you're a goalie) which is an advantage for me.

"What about soccer?" I watch as a smile spreads across Jen's face, "It seems fun. I know I'll have to train and get into shape, because you have to run a lot, but--"

Jen interrupts me, "That's a great idea Madds." She gives me a hug, "I was also wondering if you were interested in learning some self defense? I think it would help you feel safer and it could even be fun!"

"That does sound fun. Do you know of any places nearby that teach it?"

She nods her head and walks over to the computer, "One of my friends has a cousin who owns a dojo not too far from here."

She types the name of the dojo into the search bar.

"Yeah--they specialize in teaching self defense to kids, and adults, that can be useful in real life situations." She reads off of an article.
