Romeo Beckham = ...Romeo Beckham
••Maddie's POV••
"Try not to be so stiff. It's just you and me, nothing to worry about."
I look at Romeo and manage a smile. "Okay. I'll try."
We're in his soccer field. That's right, his family has a soccer field in their backyard.
He demonstrates how to kick properly again. I watch closely, but my mind keeps wandering to the anonymous text I got yesterday. I could barely concentrate in school today and could tell Karen was getting a little worried when she dropped me off this morning.
"Hello? Earth to Maddie! Is everything okay?" Romeo is waving his hand in front of my face. I blush super hard. I must've zoned out for a while.
"Oh! Um, yeah. I'm fine."
He doesn't look like he believes me, but he drops the subject. "See if you can try to kick now."
I position myself near the ball, like Romeo did. I pull my foot back to kick and then...trip. I trip on my own foot.
Wait, what am I on top of? I look down and see a grinning, blushing Romeo. I am mortified that I am inches from his face.
"Oh my gosh! R-Romeo! I am so, so, sorry!" I push myself up into a sitting position, and help him up into one as well. "Are you hurt?" The last thing I want to do is injure his already broken arm.
He smiles that beautiful smile of his.
Focus Maddie.
He continues to smile and rubs the back of his head. "I'm okay. I'll get a few bruises." His gaze turns serious. "What about you? Are you okay?"
I nod, positive I look like a tomato. "Besides being humiliated, yeah, I'm fine."
Romeo does something very unexpected. He hugs me. Yeah. If I wasn't blushing before, I sure as heck am now.
"Maddie, you have no reason to be humiliated. It was an accident and we are both fine." He stands and holds out his hand to help me up, "How about we take a break and we can try again later?"
I sigh, but nod and slowly stand anyways.
He has been trying to teach me some basic skills for half an hour now. I thought I was starting to get the hang of it, but I guess not.
This is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
••Josh's POV••
I want to do something special for Jen.
Ever since we got back together, we haven't had the chance to have an official date. We've both been really busy with filming and then she went back to California to make sure Maddie was okay after the whole Nick scandal.
I want to take her out somewhere, but not to some fancy restaurant. I want to do something romantic and that I know she will love.
It has to be perfect.
I lift my sweaty hand up to her suite door and knock three times. This is our special knock so each of us know that it's the other person. It was Jennifer's idea--not mine.
I hear some rustling inside and she opens up in some sweats and a t-shirt.
"Hey beautiful." I wink as she pulls me into one of her hugs.
"Sorry that I didn't really hang out after filming today," She says while yawning, "I'm still a little thrown off by the time changes."
Francis had an emergency and we stopped filming by lunch. Even though we are already tremendously behind schedule.
I kiss her forehead gently, "Don't be sorry, I understand."
I clear my throat, and speak in a fancy accent, "I have plans for tonight that include you, me, and food--"
"Food!" She bellows.
"I'll be back at seven." I kiss her, "Wear something nice, but comfortable."
I walk back over to my suite and decide to take a shower before we go out.
••Maddie's POV••
"Do you like your lemonade?" Romeo asks me.
We are sitting in his kitchen taking a break from soccer.
"Uh, yeah." I manage a smile.
I couldn't get over the way he acted when I told him that I was humiliated. I don't know why I even said that--it just slipped out.
It reminded me of the first conversation we had. I accidentally told him he smelled good and I gave Jen the silent treatment for making me talk to him.
In a way it seems like that was yesterday, but years ago also. So many things have happened since we first talked.
"Romeo!" The little toddlers voice squeaks.
The little girl runs to her big brother and hugs his legs.
He smiles and lifts her up onto his lap, "Maddie this is Harper. Harper can you say hello to Maddie?"
She looks at me and then hides her face in Romeo's chest.
"You better get used to her, Harper. I can't have my two favorite girls in the world not get along." He says to her then glances at me.
I blush and silently sip my lemonade.
"Do you want to go back outside and try again or are you done for the day?" He asks me.
I laugh a little, "I would like to try again."
He smiles and my stomach flutters.
I wonder if this is how Jen feels when she's around Josh?
I'm really glad they're back together and I truly mean that. There is no one else that deserves Jen as much as Josh does.
He takes Harper to the nanny and we head back outside. He shows me how to kick the ball correctly again.
I take a deep breath and attempt to do what Romeo had just done.
I pull my foot back and swing it forward, causing the object to go flying into the goal.
"You did it, Maddie!" He yelled and gave me a high five.
"I did it!"
