(6) Heart to Heart and Jimmy Fallon

••Maddies POV••

I walk down the stairs, into the kitchen and find Jen.

"Hey. " Jen motions for me to sit at the counter and eat the cereal she set out for me.

"Hey. " I reply as I eat a mouthful of Froot Loops.

I fell back asleep last night after our 'talk' you could say and I woke up and Jen wasn't there. I'd be lying if I said it didn't scare me. That I didn't think she had left me.

"Where's Josh?" I look around and notice he's nowhere to be seen.

"He left early this morning. " She said before munching on her food.

"It scared me--when you weren't there when I woke up." I say, quietly, but loud enough that she could hear me.

"You were sleeping and after the night you had I didn't want to wake you." She gave me a small smile, "Sorry it scared you. "

"I'm sorry, about last night. I didn't mean to disturb you. " I say quieter, but she still heard. She put her spoon down and turned to me.

"Madison, you don't have to be sorry about anything, I'm glad you woke me up and I'm glad I know how you feel. "

I look down in my lap, unable to move as tears fall down my cheeks.

"Madds, I want you to know...." She put one hand on my shoulder and wiped my tears with the other, "I don't like the way we left last night unsettled. I adopted you, because you needed a home. I wanted to give you that. I know you've only been here for a few days, but you're my daughter. I love you so much and-" Tears started tumbling down her face onto mine, "don't you ever say that you don't deserve this life. God created you for a reason. Your here for a reason, okay?" She engulfs me into a bear hug, that I gladly accept. "And if you ever, and I mean ever question that, please tell me. "

"Okay." I sniff as she releases me and starts to pick up her breakfast. "And Jen?"

"Yeah?" She turns and looks at me.

"I love you too. "

**30 minutes later**

"Maddie?" Jen comes into the living room, where I'm watching some talk show host talk about me or well the mystery girl.

I look up at her, "Yeah?"

She paused the tv and takes a seat beside me, "The other day I asked you if you were interested in becoming an actress." I nodded my head, unsure of where she was going with this. "Well I think you should do it--become an actress."

"What!?" I shrieked, shocked.

"I'm serious, I think you should do it. I already called my agent and her cousin specializes in acting jobs for kids. You have an audition, tomorrow at 2:00 if you want it. It's for a show called Law and Order SVU. "

"Jen--I don't know how to act." I stuttered.

"I believe in you Madds, you can do this. You've said before that you live in a world where you're different. Embrace that. You can do this." She repeats, staring deep into my eyes.

I feel a pang in my chest and hear my heartbeat in my ears. Millions of voices in my head are screaming no, but one voice is telling me to do it. Take the chance. Make this life worth something.

"Well?" Jen eagerly asks, practically bouncing up and down.

"I'll do it! I mean the worse that can happen is I don't get the part!" I say as we start screaming and jumping with joy.
