(9) How Could You?

••Maddie's POV••

I open my eyes and see that it's bright outside. I could barely sleep last night, because I felt so bad for ignoring Jen.

I know, I know it's not like I said anything--that's the point I didn't even say anything. Not a, "I don't wanna talk about it. " or a "It's not a big deal. "

I feel bad. I should've said something.

Suddenly the door opens and my thoughts are disturbed. I see Jen peeking in so I sit up, showing her I'm already awake.

She joins me under the covers and leans back on a purple pillow.

"Hey. " She says closing her eyes.

"Hey. " I reply back, watching her intently.

"I'm sorry--for last night. " She says, quietly.

"It's not your fault. I shouldn't have overreacted." I pause, then continue, "It's just..I've never really talked to guys before. "

"So...what happened?" She leans up and stares deep into my eyes.

"Well..." I trail off, "I kinda blurted out that he smelled really good and then he sorta laughed. "

She giggled and said, "Maddie! That's nothing. The first time I spoke to Josh, I started talking about catheters!" She made a really disgusted face that made me join in on the laughter.

"Thanks--for making me feel better and I really am sorry for ignoring you. " I crack a smile.

"Your welcome. Are you ready for your last day of filming?" Jen asked, playing with the ends of my hair.

I release a sigh, "Yeah. I honestly don't know how you do it. I mean I've only been at it for three days and I'm exhausted. " I giggle.

"It's so worth it though, doing what you love. " She says, in a motherly tone.

I nod my head in agreement as I stand to get ready for the day.

***BIG TIME LAPSE***

Two days later Jen is driving me to Josh's house, because she has an interview and she doesn't want me to have to sit through it.

We pull up to the short driveway as Jen called Josh's cell.

"No answer," she turns off the car, "here, I'll just walk you in. "

We get out of the vehicle and walk up the short driveway.

Jen opens the door with her spare key and we walk in to the living room.

Jen, who's in front of me abruptly stops. I move around her and I stop too.

Josh was kissing--more like making out, with a brunette with tan skin.

"Josh?" I hear Jens voice crack.

Josh pulls away and looks up, mystified. "It's not what it looks like! Jen! Please!"

"Really? Because it looks like your kissing another women!" Jen pushes me behind her, but I can still see everything. "What is she doing here!?" Jen shouts.

"I thought you weren't going to be here for another hour..." He says quietly.

I look at Jen and see tears in her eyes, she looked distraught.

Josh gestures to the girl behind him, "This is--uh Claudia. Claudia Traisac. "

"How could you?" She asks quietly, a few tears escaping.

"Im sorry. " Josh now has tears running down his face.

I watch Jen as she reaches her hand up and slaps him across the face. "You don't have the right to be sorry. "

He looks down, then looks over at me. I feel anger and hurt boiling inside of me, "You pathetic peace of trash. " I spit out.

I march outside and watch Jen scream, "Oh and by the way, we're so done. " She proceeds to slam the door.
