Simon "Ghost" Riley had seen more than his share of violence and chaos in the military. Each mission, each battle, had taken a piece of him. But amidst the turmoil, there was one constant source of peace and joy: Y/N. She was his anchor, his safe haven. And tonight, as he walked through the door of their home after another long deployment, he felt a sense of relief wash over him.

"Y/N, I'm home," he called out, his voice tired but filled with warmth.

From the kitchen, Y/N appeared, a bright smile on her face. She ran to him, wrapping her arms around his neck, holding him tightly. Ghost buried his face in her hair, inhaling the familiar scent that always calmed his racing mind.

"Welcome home," she whispered, her voice filled with love.

They spent the evening catching up, sharing a meal, and enjoying each other's company. It was a simple yet perfect reunion. But Y/N seemed more nervous than usual, fidgeting and glancing at him with an unreadable expression. Ghost noticed, but he decided to wait for her to open up.

After dinner, they settled on the couch, Y/N snuggled up against him. Ghost's hand traced absent-minded patterns on her arm, enjoying the quiet moment. Finally, Y/N took a deep breath and pulled back slightly to look into his eyes.

"Simon, there's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice trembling with a mix of excitement and fear.

Ghost's heart skipped a beat, his mind racing with possibilities. "What is it, love?"

Y/N took his hand and placed it gently on her stomach. "I'm pregnant, Simon. We're going to have a baby."

For a moment, time seemed to stand still. Ghost stared at her, his eyes wide with shock. He had faced countless dangers, but nothing had prepared him for this moment. Slowly, a smile spread across his face, and he pulled Y/N into a tight embrace.

"Are you serious?" he asked, his voice choked with emotion.

Y/N nodded, tears of joy streaming down her face. "Yes, Simon. We're going to be parents."

Ghost held her close, his heart swelling with a love and protectiveness he had never felt before. As they sat there, wrapped in each other's arms, he realized that everything had changed. The thought of bringing a child into the world made him reevaluate his priorities. The dangers of his military life suddenly seemed too great a risk to take.

That night, as Y/N slept beside him, Ghost lay awake, staring at the ceiling. He knew what he had to do. The decision wasn't easy, but it was clear. He had to retire from the military. His child deserved a father who would be there to watch them grow, to protect and guide them. Y/N deserved a partner who would be present, not constantly away on dangerous missions.

The next morning, Ghost made a call to his commanding officer. It was time to leave the army behind and start a new chapter in his life. The conversation was brief but filled with finality. His commander understood, though he was sorry to lose one of his best soldiers.

When Ghost told Y/N about his decision, she was stunned. "Are you sure, Simon? You've always been dedicated to your duty."

He took her hands in his, looking deeply into her eyes. "I've always been dedicated to you too, Y/N. And now, I'm dedicated to our child. I want to be here for you, for our family. No more deployments, no more missing important moments. I want to raise our kid together."

Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes as she hugged him tightly. "I love you, Simon. Thank you."

Months passed, and Ghost settled into civilian life. It was a difficult transition, but with Y/N by his side, he found peace and purpose. He took up a job in security consulting, a far cry from the front lines but one that allowed him to be home every night.

The day their child was born was the happiest of Ghost's life. He held their tiny baby in his arms, overwhelmed by the love he felt. Y/N watched with tears in her eyes as Ghost gently cradled their newborn, his tough exterior softened by the new life he held.

As their child grew, Ghost and Y/N built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Ghost never regretted his decision to retire. The battlefield might have shaped him, but his family completed him.

Together, they faced the challenges and joys of parenthood, knowing that no matter what, they had each other. And for Ghost, there was no greater mission than being a loving husband and father. His days of war were behind him, replaced by the beautiful chaos of family life—a life he wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
