Y/N had always found solace in the precision and structure of her job as a military technical analyst. The patterns, the predictability—it was a world she could navigate with confidence. But life had a way of throwing curveballs. A stupid, drunken one-night stand left her pregnant, a situation she never imagined for herself. The father initially offered to help, but soon he stopped responding to her texts and calls. Eventually, he made it clear he wanted nothing to do with her or their child.
Forced to resign from her job, Y/N faced the daunting task of raising a baby alone. She struggled immensely—financially, emotionally, and physically. But her resilience saw her through the hardest days. Her son, Noah, was now five years old, a bright and spirited child who brought joy into her life despite the hardships.
One ordinary day, while grocery shopping with Noah, she ran into König. The sight of him was both surprising and oddly comforting. She knew him from her military days—a tall, imposing figure who always wore his mask, his silence and mysterious aura making him a subject of intrigue among his peers. Just before she fell pregnant, they had started talking more often. König, despite his quiet nature, had shown a kindness and understanding that she rarely found in others.
König's eyes widened with recognition when he saw her. Noah, curious as always, was instantly fascinated by the towering man in front of them.
"Hi, I'm Noah!" he announced, extending a small hand towards König. The masked man looked at the boy, then back at Y/N, and took Noah's hand gently.
"Hello, Noah," König replied, his voice deep but surprisingly soft.
Y/N was struck by the ease with which Noah interacted with König. Her usually shy son was animated and excited, a rare sight.
"König, it's been a while," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"It has," he nodded. "How have you been?"
Y/N shrugged, a small smile on her lips. "Managing. This is Noah, my son."
König's eyes softened as he looked at Noah. "He's a good boy."
They talked for a while, Y/N updating him on her life, and König sharing a bit about his recent missions. When they parted ways, Y/N felt a warmth she hadn't felt in a long time.
A few weeks later, König was back in town, and she invited him over for dinner. Noah was thrilled, and the evening was filled with laughter and stories. König, usually reserved, seemed to open up around Noah. He would sit and listen intently to the boy's tales, his eyes crinkling with amusement behind his mask.
As weeks turned into months, König became a regular visitor. He helped Noah with his school projects, taught him little tricks and skills, and even shared some of his own stories from his time in the military. Y/N watched their bond grow with a mix of gratitude and wonder.
One evening, after Noah had gone to bed, Y/N and König sat on the porch, a comfortable silence settling between them.
"Thank you," Y/N said softly. "For being here. For him."
König turned to her, his eyes serious. "You don't have to thank me. I enjoy spending time with him. And with you."
She smiled, feeling a connection that went beyond words. It was in the shared silences, the mutual respect, and the unspoken understanding that had always existed between them.

Over time, Y/N and König grew closer. Their once sporadic conversations had become a regular part of her life, and she found herself looking forward to the times he would come back from his missions. She never thought she could let any man into her life again, especially not with Noah to think about. But König was different—steady, reliable, and kind in ways she hadn't expected.
