Y/N sat on the couch in the common area, the dim light casting soft shadows across her features. She leaned her head back, eyes closed, and sighed deeply, a mix of exhaustion and frustration swirling inside her. The mission reports scattered around her told stories of harrowing battles, narrow escapes, and a never-ending cycle of duty that weighed heavily on her. As she thumbed through the pages, her eyelids grew heavier, the late hour stealing her energy away. The rest of the team had long since left, their laughter and camaraderie fading into the background like the distant echoes of gunfire from their last operation.
The clock on the wall ticked steadily, each second a reminder that she was alone in the sprawling common area. She had hoped to finish the reports, but now the words blurred together, and the details of their missions felt like a tangled web she couldn't quite untangle. A tired smile crossed her face as she thought of the others—how they would tease her for staying behind while they went to unwind.
Just as Y/N began to drift off, she heard soft footsteps approaching. Her heart raced momentarily, her instincts kicking in. But instead of a threat, she felt warmth beside her. Before she could react, she felt a familiar presence hovering above her. It was Gaz. He had always had a knack for sneaking up on her, his quiet demeanor belying the sharpness of his skills. Leaning down, he brushed a strand of hair from her face, his fingers lingering on her cheek.
"Hey," he said softly, his voice low and inviting. "Thought I'd find you here."
Y/N opened her eyes, startled but smiling. "You scared me! I thought everyone had left."
"They did, but I came back. Figured you could use some company." Gaz's eyes sparkled with mischief, the corner of his mouth twitching upward in that charming grin she had come to adore.
Before she could respond, he leaned in closer, his breath warm against her skin. In one fluid motion, he pressed his lips to hers. The kiss was gentle at first, a tentative exploration that quickly deepened as he brushed his fingers through her hair. The world around them faded away, and all that remained was the comforting warmth of his presence and the electric connection they shared.
Y/N's heart raced, a mix of surprise and delight. She had been longing for a moment like this, but the chaos of their lives always seemed to get in the way. She melted into the kiss, her worries dissolving as she surrendered to the moment, forgetting about the reports, the missions, and the weight of the world outside.
When they finally pulled away, both breathless, Gaz looked into her eyes, searching for something. "You okay?" he asked, concern etching his features.
"More than okay," she replied, her voice a soft whisper, the blush creeping up her cheeks betraying her composed exterior. "I didn't expect that."
"Neither did I," he admitted with a shy smile. "But you looked so peaceful. I just wanted to be close to you."
Y/N chuckled lightly, the tension easing between them. "Well, you succeeded. But what about the reports?"
"Let them wait," he said, waving a dismissive hand. "You deserve a break. How about we get out of here? I know a place where we can grab some food."
Her stomach growled at the mention of food, and Y/N nodded, feeling a spark of excitement. "Sure, that sounds great."
As they stood up and made their way to the door, Gaz playfully bumped her shoulder. "And who knows? Maybe we'll have time for another kiss or two."

They stepped outside into the cool night air, Gaz casually moved his arm around Y/N's shoulders, pulling her closer. The warmth of his body radiated against her, a reassuring presence that made her heart flutter.
