18th November. Masked night. A night where the masked boys and dark night lovers come out to play. Guns, drugs, murder. And something else. Something so much darker.
Or at least that's what I've been told, truthfully tonight was to be the first time I ever went. It felt strange cause it felt weirdly similar to devil night. Although I suppose the only difference was we were apart of the mafia, and they weren't.
Stepping into the ballroom, everyone seemed to be there. Whether they were dancing, sitting together whilst smoking drugs, drinking until they saw black or watching the scene of so called puppets in front of them. Each of them seemed to be doing what fitted their personality perfectly.
"Allia" Eveline spoke, coming over to me and nearly giving me a heart attack as she did. She was willingly coming over to me? Had i proven myself to her without knowing?
"Eveline, lovely to see you here" I smiled.
"Lovely to see you too, i've almost missed you being around" Was that a half compliment i was getting from her? Surely i was wrong? Either she was drunk or i was hallucinating, but strangely neither seemed right. "You know your silence is a dead give away of your shock. You should work on that." So it was her. Things just felt off with her.
"Allia!" I heard a familiar squeal, but the voice didn't fit right in the setting. "oh hi Eveline" Instantly her perky self went into shy mode. Did she have a crush on Eveline or something? It would be adorable if that was the case.
"Jade, what a pleasure" Eveline smirked a little. It still scared me slightly that she could tell who was here with only hearing a voice and footsteps. "Well i'll leave you two to talk. Jade, I expect i'll see you later?"
"I'd love to. I mean, yes of course, i mean mhm" she scrambled over her words, making Eveline chuckle a little under her breath before walking away.
"So are you going to tell me what's the deal between you two?" I teased, making Jade blush which brought a laugh to my lips.
"I- she- well-" She stuttered. Damn did Eveline really give this effect on her? She was never lost for words.
"We met when she was visiting my brother once. Well by met i mean i accidently bumped into her when running towards him" She explained, looking down nervously.
"Your brother?" I asked, knowing she had a brother but wondering who exactly she was talking about.
"Elliot, the doctor for the organisation. I help him sometimes on the weekend" Elliot was her brother? Is that why she was here? I suppose it made sense, but i just never saw them as being related.
"Hm.. fair enough. I suppose that makes sense" It honestly did.
"Ahem, may i have all of your attention please" Lye stood on the stage with a microphone making us all look over to him. "We are gathered here today for the masked celebration. So lets stay in line of the rules and have some fun. At 11 tonight the true showings of torture will begin and anyone that stays won't be able to leave until 2am. If anyone has anything they need to talk to me about, come here before then. Now lets get this party going shall we" finishing his speech he climbed off stage and walked over to me.
As soon as he climbed off, a group of circus performers walked on.
"Vendetta" I heard Giovanni's voice as he came up to us with his wife trailing behind. His wife seemed to always be trailing behind him, almost like she was on some imaginary leash.
"Tayson, a pleasure like always." Lye said the words sternly, his wall coming up again.
"Vienna, are you ok?" I asked, seeing that she didn't seem to be having any fun being here but all she did was nod at me, worrying me more.
"She's fine." Giovanni stated, glaring at his wife.
"I don't mean to seem rude, but i was talking to her." I tried to say the words gently, not wanting to erupt any anger but he seemed to take my statement badly.
"Well i can answer for her" He glared, making me feel small and slightly vulnerable, which i hated.
"Actually, it's physically impossible for you to know truly how she's feeling. Human's can't read minds" I added the last part to try and lighten the mood but it only made the situation worst.
"And why would I care what you have to say princess? a woman like you belongs in the kitchen and looking after the children. This is not a place for you. Now i advise you go back to where you belong or else, i promise you, you'll regret it." Him threatening me, made me want to shout back at him. How dare he threaten me like that and talk about women in that way.
"And how do you expect to make me regret it? I deserve my place here as much as anyone else, possibly even more than you do" I stated, standing taller to make him know that he wouldn't intimidate me.
"why because your with a Vendetta? That doesn't-" He started, making me even more upset.
"no not because im a vendetta, because i have more respect than you, yet i've only been here for a couple of months, and you've been here for what? your whole life. So either I'm really good at making people trust me or your simply a cocky bastard who's all bark no bite. Either way if anyone was to be forced to leave, i believe i'm looking straight at the person who would" I stated. But instantly i regretted my words at seeing how Vienna seemed to be reacting.
I wouldn't be surprised if she hated being married to him in the first place. All i wanted was to protect her from him and evil. She seemed to sweet to be going through all of this.
"Actually on the topic of this. Lye i have an announcement to make." I looked at Lye, asking him for permission and he nodded to the stage.
"Do as you need to my darling. the stage is yours" He said, kissing my forehead before i walked up.
As i did, a projection showed behind me. I was terrified to make the announcement originally, but now knowing how he treated Vienna i couldn't care less.
"In this building we have a traitor. And i believe it should be made known." Everyone gasps filled the air, but all Lye and Sadie did was watch me with proud eyes, making me a little relieved.
As i continued, i started to show the proof and saw that Giovanni was slowly trying to leave the room.
"His name is Giovanni Tay-" before i could finish a bullet would shot at me, something i highly expected so i was luckily able to dodge it before it gave me any damage.
Before he could run again, a bullet shot through his chest, making him fall to the ground instantly. Truthfully surprise hit me when i realised the bullet didn't come from my gun, but Vienna's.
