It was one things to hear stories about his family and another to be surrounded by them, feeling like i'd step into the pages of a book i hadn't finished reading. I had met his mother, and what a day that was by seeing how perfect she was. But meeting his siblings too? That was a whole other ballgame in itself.
As his mother opened the door to a house i couldn't get out of my mind, instead of being invited to perfection, i was invited into chaos. Something that made me feel a lot more at ease. There placed where 14 people with completely different personalities. A girl, who looked like a younger version of Lye's mother, was sat reading next to someone who i supposed was their partner. Two girls were serving meals, one being a red head, and the other looking much older. Two boys were sat having a conversation, four people were sat watching a movie and another two boys were fighting over some sort of video game.
In all honesty the room simply looked like a family, one that wasn't focused on perfection or being too happy, they were simply acting like it was another normal day. Although two people in the back caught my eye, two people playing chess together. I didn't know why but they both looked very familiar.
As soon as we walked into the room, his mother cleared her throat making everyone look up, seemingly like time had frozen.
As they all stayed looking at her, she decided to introduce who they were. Lye's siblings were; his eldest brother Ray, who seemingly worked in the army and his wife was Alana, Jax, a boy covered in tattoos and his two partners were Maerie, the ginger girl, and Toni, a boy with black and white hair, Vardan and Zealand who were the two boys i felt looked familiar, Amorie, who was the girl that looked similar to Lye's mother and her partner was called Andy, Jake, who was one of the boys fighting over a video game and his boyfriend was Elijah, Deja, a blonde haired girl who's boyfriend was Archer and finally Vernon, the youngest of them all.
Truthfully Lye's family seemed even more like royalty, with how many of them there were.
Coming over to me, Amorie gave me a friendly smile, but i was worried of what her true emotions on me were. "So your my brother's girlfriend" her words seemed like she was secretly judging me, making my worries sky rise.
"Mhm" I mumbled, tightening my grip around Lye's hand.
In a shocking movement she pulled me into a hug, surprising me more than anything before pulling away and smiling. "It's nice to meet you, i'm sure we'll get along perfectly" her words brought me comfort and some sort of hope. I truly did hope we would be able to, if we didn't i didn't know what i could do.
"Darling, give the poor girl some space" her boyfriend, Andy, chuckled whilst placing a kiss on her cheek.
"Sorry, i'm just very happy that my brother has found someone else to make him happy" she stated, taking a step back.
"It's ok, truly don't worry" I gave her what i would hope was a reassuring smile.
"Well shall we all sit and eat?" His mum spoke, nodding her head towards the table.
As we sat, i felt three pairs of eyes on me; each belonging to his brothers, Vardan, Zealand and Ray. Vardan and Zealand seemed to be silently judging, their expressions impossible to read but Ray seemed more curious. Was he curious about me or was he curious about why Lye choose me?
Eating my dinner slowly, my pace felt strange compared to everyone else. I was terrified to make one wrong movement whilst eating, terrified they would judge me over the way i ate but it felt like they already had.
"So what do you think?" his mum finally asked, making me smile softly.
"It's very nice thank you" I replied, hoping i had answered her question in the right way as it felt like one wrong answer could lead to complete chaos.
Finally she smiled "perfect". I almost sighed in relief at her answer, although i was more relaxed than before i still felt the need and pressure to be somewhat perfect for them. I needed them to like me, if not all of them at least most of them.
Around the table everyone seemed to be doing their own things; Deja, Maerie and Alana seemed to be having some conversation about pretty outfits, Jake and Vernon seemed to be arguing over something whilst Elijah was watching them both intensely and Toni. Archer, Jax and Amorie seemed to be having their own conversation too.
Truthfully i wished that some day i would be able to fit into the family, just like the other partners of the family did, but i expected it would take some time to be able to.
Once we had finally finished dinner, Vernon came over to me, "Do you play any video games?" he asked, reminding me a little of my own brother.
"mhm, many of them. Why wanna play one?" I asked, making his eyes light up.
"You'll really play with me?" He asked, looking hopeful.
"Of course, you pick the game and i'll play with you. But just to warn you, you might have to teach me a little" I giggled.
"Don't worry i'll happily teach you" he laughed and ran over to his video game. Although i was sure he was a little older than me, maybe 18 or 19, he was still adorable. Almost as adorable as a kid.
As an hour or so passed by, i was sat with him playing video games and laughing together.
"I really like you, you know? Your a fun new sister" he smiled at me. Truthfully him calling me his sister felt like the biggest compliment i could ever get.
"Aww i like you too" I smiled, before beating him in the game.
"Hey!" He laughed.
"Should've paid more attention" i giggled, before stating a new round with him.
As the time went by, eventually Lye came over to us to inform us that we would soon be leaving.
"I'm gonna miss you sis. Promise to come around again soon?" He asked me with hopeful eyes.
"If i'm invited" I smiled and he nodded excitedly.
"I'm surprised he felt so comfortable around you" Lye spoke as soon as we were out of the house "He's never truly comfortable with anyone". Hearing that made my smile even brighter, i just wished that i would become close to the others too eventually.
As we finally started to drive home, all that kept crossing my mind was how welcoming Amory and Vernon was and how i wondered if eventually the others would be the same.
