Now. Meghanada and his father had realized, deep within, that these vanaras were not very mere. But wouldn't the world collapse and earth split up if they just accepted it and, I don't know, return that poor woman? Oh, it surely would.
So, now that they knew hook won't work anymore, they decided to go by crook. And that meant that The so called Indrajit, the self proclaimed Invincible warrior, was going to hide behind the clouds he was named after, and attack the Vanara camps.
No, seriously? Like how can someone be so hypocritic as to call themselves the bravest warrior to ever exist in one moment, and then hide behind the clouds to strike in the other? Wasn't it better to die on the battlefield instead, at least that death would be heroic!
That was what Lakshmana had been thinking furiously, while shooting arrows consistently, his hand moving in circular motion from his quiver to bow. He and Rama stood with their back to back, so that the arrows could be shot in all directions simultaneously.
It had all begun when they had been considering to retire for the day and get some sleep, when it had started to rain. Only, it weren't innocent water droplets trickling down; it was sharp, poisonous arrows.
"Meghanada" Vibhishana had whispered, shaking his head in sheer disapointment
"Only he has the ability to do this"Without much thought, the army had been alerted by Angada and his two best friends, while Rama and Lakshmana started to counter the arrows with their own, desperately trying to save as many Vanaras as they could. But, the opponent wasn't visible to their eye. Meghanada was rapidly switching places and shooting thousands of arrows, not allowing the brothers to grasp his location.
Lakshmana had started to lose his cool as soon as an arrow hit Rama. He plucked the arrow out angrily, shooting a glare in the direction from where the arrow had come
"Strike from front, you fool! Like a warrior should. How can you even call yourself a warrior if you hide like this?" He roared. Meghanada laughed at him, in his invisible form, even though even he knew, deep down, somewhere, that he wouldn't dare to laugh like that if Lakshmana could see him.Now this man didn't even have the basic ethics to just come out and show his face, even after that statement of Lakshmana's. Instead, he only shot more arrows, injuring as many monkeys as was possible. But the brothers didn't stop either. Not even for a nano second had their arms take rest, they shot arrows such fastness that made the onlookers feel that it was just a blur.
But Meghanada, who had at least thousand times more advantage than those two 'Hermits', was exhausted after a while. So, he decided to play a masterstroke. He closed his eyes and pulled the bowstring back, and suddenly, two arrows appeared on his bow, which shone brightly and were green in color, with shining, sharp arrowheads. He grinned evilly and released them, as they zoomed past all the obstacles, and reached where they had to.
The first arrow struck Rama in his chest, as he groaned and fell on his knees, his body affected by the poison. Lakshmana stopped breathing for a moment, before he got a hold on himself and attempted to catch his brother.
But before that could happen, the second arrow struck him in the chest, and his grip on his bow slackened completely before he left it, and after stumbling around for a bit, both of them fell on the ground, almost on top of each other due to their close proximity.
Now, deeming it safe, Meghanada revealed himself, laughing his head off.
"What is the point of coming forwards, when my job can be done from behind? Everything is fair in love and war, isn't it? For all the drama you people did, it is us, the ones with unfair advantages, the ones following what you call Adharma, who won in the end. WE HAD THE LAST LAUGH"
