Annabeth woke up late the next morning. She didn't have time to run, and her head was pounding. She felt like her body had been metaphorically run over by a truck, but she couldn't miss her second day of school. She had to go, rather she felt like garbage or not.
The girl went straight for her shower, deciding that it would make her feel a bit better. She fixed her hair into French braids, and did a bit of makeup to look less tired and sick. She lived by the motto, "If you look good, you feel good." So, she did her best to dress like she always would, even if she didn't feel well.
Once she was ready, she grabbed her phone and headed out the door. Luckily, Bella was already up and getting ready, and Charlie had left for work a little before Anna had left her room. He had probably wondered where she was, but he knew she would call him if there was any problems.
Before she went to the school, she stopped at the store to pick up some medication that would hopefully make her feel better. She also grabbed herself a grape flavored Nos, which was one of her favorite energy drinks. Her absolute favorite was Monster, but she absolutely hated Redbull.
Anyhow, when she arrived at the school, she checked her phone and seen that she had time to spare. She decided to check her messages, and seen that Avery had messaged her about going out running. Obviously, Avery realized that she didn't go, but at first she got a little upset that the girl hadn't answered her back.
'Hey guys, I think I'm going to have to skip out on La Push today. I don't feel well, but Crystal and Alex, you two can go without me.'
Anna sent the group message, before she grabbed her schoolbag and begrudgingly got out of her car. She headed inside of the school, and felt her phone blowing up in her pocket. She ignored it, until she got into her first class. She sat down at her desk; not ready to interact with anyone yet this morning, but she didn't really have the chance.
'You need me to pick up some meds and food on my way to La Push later?'
'You sure? Wouldn't want to go without you'
'K'
The first message was from Crystal, and Anna answered with a simple 'yes' and added a smiley face. She then answered back Alex, telling him that it was okay for them to go without her. She knew they had it planned, and she didn't want to ruin whatever plan they had just because she didn't feel well. The last message was from Avery, and Anna was confused as to what was wrong. She decided to send her friend a message that wasn't in the group chat.
'Is something wrong?'
'Oh? Now you wanna talk to me?'
'I didn't realize I wasn't talking to you'
'Well, obviously you were. You never answered me back this morning. You left me on read.'
'I slept in, and didn't have time to run. I didn't even open my phone until I got to school. How could I have left you on read?'
'You never answered back!'
'Sorry'
'Now you're saying you're sick, and can't hang out at the beach with us. I feel like you're just making up some excuse to get out of it'
'I'm not, you wanna check my temperature?'
'I don't have time for your attitude'
'My attitude?! What is up with you?! Why are you acting like this?! I woke up late! I'm sick! What else do you want me to tell you?! Alex and Crystal are going!'
'Leave me alone'
Anna groaned and tossed her phone into her schoolbag. She did not have time for Avery's dramatics. She was sick, and stressing wasn't going to make her feel better. It did make her wonder what was up with Avery though, considering she was always known for being so cool tempered and understanding. Most of the time, she had to try and keep Anna from flipping out on people.
"You look deep in thought." Emmett commented, as he sat down next to her.
"I'm not feeling well, and my friend's not happy about it. She's taking it out on me." She replied, rolling her eyes slightly.
"Why did you come to school if you didn't feel well?" He asked, making her sigh.
"It's only my second day," She answered,"I can't just skip because I don't feel well."
"I can get you a doctor's note, if you want?" He offered,"My dad's a doctor at the hospital, and he can call you out."
"You think that sounds lazy?" She asked, making him chuckle.
"Not at all," He replied,"but if you want to stay, that's up to you. I'm just offering you a way out."
"I should probably stay," She sighed,"My dad would most likely freak if I got called out on my second day here. It's my last year, after all." She chuckled humorlessly, and Emmett grinned.
Her two best friends, Alex and Crystal, came into the room seconds later. Crystal passed her an iced coffee, and Alex handed her a cereal bar. She gave them both a thankful smile, and they simply gave her sympathetic ones in return. Anna didn't feel sick often, but when she did, it would last days at a time, and would be some of the most horrible time in her life.
"I didn't know you were hungry," Emmett commented,"I would've brought you some food."
"I don't think Rosalie would've liked that." She replied, and he chuckled.
"I have a feeling you and Rose will be best friends," He said,"You both just have to not try and over-bitch the other."
Anna sent Emmett a glare, and he simply smiled. She was not going to change, no matter what Emmett said, and she was adamant she'd never get along with Rosalie. Emmett could be her friend, but she did not need another one if that meant Rosalie was going to be stuck by her side while being a territorial lapdog...
