The next day, Annabeth woke up feeling a little better than she had the day before. She had texted Crystal to make sure their plans were still in place, and of course, Crystal never bailed on Anna. Crystal could be in the ICU, and she'd escape the hospital just in time to make it for their scheduled plans.
Anna and Crystal were not doing anything amazing, but they were hanging out together. The two planned to go to the store to pick out the shoes for Prom for Crystal, and then go out for some food, and possibly to get their nails done afterward.
Crystal had her mother drop her off at Anna's, and Anna promised to drive her home. Once Crystal had arrived, Anna started her car and their first stop was a store with some of the nicest shoes one could buy for any event. Anna bought herself a pair of shoes, though she wasn't going to prom.
"Are you sure you don't want to go to prom?" Crystal asked, as she looked through the thousands of shoes,"We can stop and get you a dress, and you can get another pair of shoes just for prom."
"I don't want to go," Anna replied,"I just don't see the point in it. It's a ridiculous reason for students to dress up, dance provocatively to crappy music, and waste their time."
"Okay," Crystal clicked her tongue,"So, I guess you're not too excited about dressing up for graduation either, are you?"
"Honestly, no," She answered,"but I guess I could use it as the one time I dress up better than all the preppy girls that think they're the best, and I can prove they're not. It's even better that after graduation, I'll never have to see any of them again."
"Well, I'm excited to see your dress for graduation." Crystal said, making Anna smile.
After buying the shoes, the two girls got back into Anna's car and drove to the diner close to the rez. This was where the girls often went together when they went out for lunch or dinner together. Alex and Avery were often with them, but this time it was different, it was just Crystal and Anna.
"Are you wanting to get your nails done today?" Anna asked,"I was kind of thinking that I wanted my nails done, and maybe get my eyebrows done, too."
"Yeah, we can do that," Crystal replied, "Will you go with me when I go for prom nails and hair?"
"Sure," Anna replied,"I most likely will need a haircut by then." She added, laughing lightly, as she twirled a little bit of hair between her fingers.
Anna only liked having long hair, but she never let it get too long. When she was fourteen, she had went without getting a haircut for too long, and her hair ended up growing past her butt, so when she sat down, she'd yank her head back forcefully because she sat on her hair. After that, she decided she'd never let her hair get that long again, and she'd cut it, even if it was barely close to the length.
"You should get a perm to put some beach waves in, I think it would look nice. You have the face shape--" Crystal began, but was cut off by the door opening nearby.
The two girls went silent when they seen who had walked into the diner; Alex and Avery. The two were smiling and chatting with each other, not recognizing who was at the table near the door. Crystal being the type of person she was, cleared her throat loudly, grabbing both of their attention. Avery and Alex turned towards them, and in seconds, their faces turned as white as ghosts.
"Anna--" Avery began, but Anna simply scoffed and stood from the table.
"Save it," She retorted, as she headed towards the door, but stopped short and turned back to the two for one last thing,"Y'know, since the day you got mad at me because I was sick, I wondered if I had done something wrong. I ignored it, I was upset at first, and hurt. Now though, I'm not. I see it, and it's so obvious. You're a two faced bitch. You and Alex deserve each other. I mean, I thought we were friends, you and I, and well, myself and Alex, but apparently this friendship was based on lies and deceit. So, for your own good, don't ever speak to me again, I won't be nice, and it won't be pretty."
Anna headed to the door with Crystal, and as Alex called for them, the two girls simply raised their hands and flipped him the bird in sync. It wasn't that Alex and Avery were dating that made Anna and Crystal mad, no, it was the secrets and the quietness. Alex knew how much Anna missed Avery, yet not once had he even bothered to mention this to Avery. He never even offered up the idea of Anna and Avery being friends again. For some reason, his mind was selfish, and he couldn't think to help his friends, he was only worried about himself. He didn't even bother asking why Avery had gotten so angry at Anna, he just told her she had a right to be mad if something happened.
"Is your day ruined?" Crystal asked, looking over at Anna.
"No," Anna replied, though Crystal could see her knuckles turning white as she gripped tightly to the steering wheel,"Let's just enjoy getting our nails done. We don't need them, they're not worth our time."
"You're right," Crystal smiled,"Let's just enjoy ourselves, and forget all about them."
Anna didn't know if she'd ever forget their betrayal, but at least she had Crystal. She always had a feeling that Crystal was her only true friend, she just didn't want to believe her mind at the time. It seemed her mind was right though, but she was okay with that now, because Crystal was a good friend, and she'd hope to keep her forever...
