Annabeth woke the next morning feeling relieved that she hadn't woken up with another headache like she had the day before. She really didn't feel like going to school, but she had to turn in her research paper. The research paper wasn't due until Monday, but it was the Friday before, and Anna wanted to go ahead and have it turned in.
Anna didn't skip running this morning, but she had to make it a little shorter, considering her head was still slightly recovering from the major headache the day before. Once she had gotten back, she went straight for a shower. She needed to eat a little something afterward, so she tried her best not to waste too much time in the shower, though she enjoyed the hot water on her skin so much.
She headed downstairs after putting her hair into a messy bun on top of her head. She grabbed a cereal bar from the cabinet, as well as an energy drink from the refrigerator, that she had gotten Bella to pick up on her way home. Anna felt like she really needed it, since her sleep wasn't the greatest, and her eyes were still a bit sore from how bad her headache had been.
Once she had eaten, Anna headed out to her car and drove straight to school. She sipped her energy drink, as she leaned against the side of her car in the school parking lot. She watched as students arrived at school, before running off to meet their friends somewhere in the parking lot.
"Hey girl!" Crystal called, as she headed over,"How's your head today?"
"Still a little sore," She answered,"but nothing I can't handle. If it comes back, I'll just leave for the rest of the day."
"Oh, I meant to text you yesterday," Crystal had a large grin cover her face,"but I think Alex has a girlfriend."
"How'd you come to that conclusion?" Anna asked, as she walked alongside Crystal into the school.
"Well, he went to the rez the other day with his cousin, and yesterday, he was texting someone. I asked him who, and he got all defensive, not to mention, he was totally blushing." Crystal said, and Anna smirked.
"I wonder who the girl is that's got him in knots." She commented, causing Crystal to laugh.
When they got to class, Anna sat down next to Emmett, as per usual, and she seen Alex sit down next to Crystal. He was trying to avoid eye contact, because he knew Anna could practically sniff it out when he or Crystal were keeping something from her. Anna narrowed her eyes at her friend, but let him be secretive, considering she believed it was simply because of the girl — not who the girl was.
As Anna was listening to the teacher, she glanced over in her peripheral, and seen Emmett watching her. It was as though he knew she was keeping a secret, or maybe it was because he knew that she knew his secret. She didn't say anything to him about it, and she wanted to keep quiet, but she was a little frightened by the idea that she was sitting next to a vampire. He could easily kill her, and nobody would be able to stop him.
Once Anna knew that the Cullens were suspecting that she knew their secret, she tried to stay as hidden as possible. She did not want to get into the middle of any of it, but even still knowing, she didn't show an ounce of fear. She kept her head high and her breathing even, she was not going to freak out over it.
She turned in her research paper, like she had wanted to do, before she was able to get out of school. It was like hell trying to get out of the building, since it seemed everyone was in a rush to leave. It was a Friday, but most Fridays everyone hung around with their friends, and normally there was plenty of room for her to get out without having to wait for space to get through the other students.
"Anna!" She heard, as she finally made it to her car.
"Fuck." She murmured to herself, knowing she wasn't getting away.
"Where were you yesterday?" Alice asked,"Bella was here. She told Edward you know...is that why you weren't here? Are you scared of us?"
"I'm not scared of you," Anna replied, her words coming out more heated than she had planned,"I was out because I had a headache so bad I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head."
"Oh," Alice let out a nervous chuckle,"well, how are you feeling today?"
"My eyes are still sore, and honestly, I think my head's still a bit sore. The noise and lights of the school definitely didn't help." She answered, making Alice frown.
"Maybe you should get that checked out," Alice commented,"it could be something serious. I could get Carlisle to have a look--"
"No," Anna answered quickly,"I'd much rather just go home and rest. I don't need to be looked over."
"Okay," Alice murmured, though she wasn't truly convinced,"if the headache comes back, or you figure out what's caused it, you should let me know. I don't want to stay worried about you, wondering if you're suffering or not."
"Fine," Anna replied,"but I'll be fine."
Anna left soon after, as Alice watched her leave. Alice was a bit concerned about the girl's headache. There was something going on with it. She had this feeling, and she couldn't shake it, there was something more to it than just a simple headache. Alice tried to get a vision, but nothing was coming. Anna was almost like a mystery to the Cullens. There were things they knew, and things they didn't. Alice couldn't get the answers, and Edward tried as well, but it was almost like static on a radio when he tried to get into her head most of the time. The only time he was ever able to get into her head, seemed to be when she wasn't thinking about anything but food or class, everything else was hidden by a wall of static...
