When Annabeth had gotten home, she had taken a hot shower, before laying down. Bella had brought her a peanut butter sandwich, considering the girl hadn't eaten all day, and she needed to get a little sustenance in her body. After the sandwich, Anna took some medicine, and slept through the night.

The next morning, Anna was feeling just a little better, meaning she could go out for her run before school. She knew that she had to take it easy, considering she was running a slight fever, but she wasn't going to skip out on running again. The more she skipped, the more she'd feel like she was slowly giving up on it, and that wasn't something she wanted.

Anna had texted Avery before she went out to run, but Avery never texted her back. She still went out on her run and ignored the lack of response from her best friend. When she got back home after her run, she took a hot shower, then went downstairs and ate a granola bar so the medicine wouldn't upset her stomach. She then went up to her room and put on some clothes for school.

'Hey girl, I would've texted you last night, but I figured you were sleeping because you were looking rough yesterday at school

'Hey girl, I would've texted you last night, but I figured you were sleeping because you were looking rough yesterday at school. Anyway, Avery never met us at La Push. I texted her, but she never answered me back. I asked Embry what was up with her, and he said she had been acting bitchy all day. He said she hadn't been herself, and he didn't know what was up with her. He said he'd message me if she started acting like herself again.'

That was the message Anna had seen as she was grabbing her phone and keys to head to school. Now she really wondered what was up with Avery, and she almost wanted to go to the Call home to see her, but she didn't. Anna wasn't one to deal with attitudes, especially bitchy ones, when she wasn't at fault. She would give Avery time to cool off, she'd text her again in a few days, and if she still didn't answer, that was her loss not Anna's.

Anna headed to school soon after, and met Crystal and Alex outside. Bella was running late, since she hadn't wanted to get up. Apparently she was a little down that Edward wasn't at school since the first day the two met, and Anna just didn't understand why Bella was so upset about it. The man was an asshole, but it seemed Bella had become infatuated with him from day one.

"How are you feeling today, Anna?" Alex asked, as he smiled down at his friend.

"Still sick, and running a low grade fever, but I'm feeling better than I was yesterday." She replied, causing her friends to smile.

"Since you couldn't go to La Push yesterday, you wanna go to Port Angeles to get dinner tonight?" Crystal asked, and Anna nodded.

"I'll have Bella tell dad when she gets home," She said,"We can leave for town as soon as school ends."

Anna entered Math class feeling a little less drained than she had the day before. She sat down at her desk and sent Bella a message, deciding that a quick text was easier than hoping to pass by Bella before school ended. She knew Bella would pass on the message to Charlie when she got home, it wasn't like she had anywhere else to be. Bella really didn't hang out with her new friends, but Anna felt like it was because she was too awkward and unsure of them — they were more extroverted than she was.

"Good morning, Annie!" Emmett said happily, as he sat down next to Anna.

"Morning." She replied, giving him a smile.

It had only been three days since Anna and Bella started going to Forks High School, but Anna seemed to get along with Emmett rather fast. He was so nice and funny, not to forget the fact that he was also very outgoing, and that was something Anna really enjoyed about him. She wasn't even sure if she wanted to make new friends, but Emmett was forcing his way in, and she couldn't deny the fact that she seemed to start enjoying it.

"I was hoping that you and Rosalie could try hanging out this weekend," Emmett commented,"Maybe you two could start getting along."

"I'm sorry, Em, but I really don't think we'll get along," She replied,"and honestly, I'm thinking of having a sleepover with Crystal this weekend if I'm feeling better so..."

"I just really want you two to get along," He said,"I mean, you're my friend, right?" He asked, and she nodded,"and Rosalie's my girlfriend. I want my girlfriend and my girl best friend to get along."

"I'll think about it, okay?" He nodded,"I just can't promise anything. I'm having issues with one of my best friends right now, and I'd rather not have anymore problems."

"I get it," He chuckled,"You wanna tell me about it?" He asked, making her sigh.

"I don't even know what's up," She grumbled,"Avery got mad at me for being sick and she wouldn't take being sick as an excuse for not going to La Push. Then she didn't even show up, and left Crystal and Alex on their own."

"That sucks," He replied,"but I think La Push is pretty boring anyway. I also think that if she's going to be angry at you for things like that, and ignore you guys, maybe she wasn't meant to be your friend."

"But she's been my best friend since I was little."

"Sometimes you don't see a person's true colors until years after."

Anna sighed, wondering if Emmett was right. Was Avery really a bad person? Was she not the same Avery that Anna remembered from childhood? Had she truly changed for the worse? Anna had to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she didn't know how long she could do that, before she started to believe what Emmett had said to her...
