After dinner, everyone retreated to their own rooms.

Ahem*

I glanced up to see him standing there, wearing just trousers and a casually rolled-up t-shirt.
How does one person manage to look that good every single time? Honestly, he could walk a runway in this and have half the girls swooning.
Whatever—none of my business.

I looked back down, diving into work on my laptop. No way was I going to waste time now.

Ahem*

“What?” I snapped, annoyed. Couldn’t he just say what he wanted already?

"Um are you forgetting anything?" I eyed him as he kept the wet towel on my bed.
He quickly took the towel and threw it inside the laundry basket. Good boy.

“As far as I know, I’m not forgetting anything,” I shrugged, turning back to my work.

From the corner of my eye, I saw him grab his phone and start dialing someone.

1... 2... 3... Boom—he suddenly started cursing someone out loud.
Poor soul on the other end.

“Hey, slow down, Mr. Oberoi! I’m trying to work here.”

“I’ll call you back later, idiot.” He hung up and plopped down on the couch with his laptop.

We both were engrossed in our respective works.
Just then my phone pinged with a message. I unlocked my phone and a smirk formed on my lips.
I looked up at him, he's still engrossed in his work.

“Mr. Oberoi, I’m going to sleep. Good night.”

“Hm, same.”

Wait, what’s 'hm same' supposed to mean? He can’t just say good night to me? Or maybe repeat whatever he said yesterday? Doesn’t he want me to have a good night? Such a cranky guy.
Why is he suddenly so moody?

He literally went out of the room like a storm, his mood swings are worse than pregnant ladies.

Keeping my phone aside I feel into a deep slumber.

“Nandini, are you ready, beta?” Maa came rushing in, a bright smile on her face.

“Ji ji, maa, I’m all set!” I quickly adjusted my pallu and stood up.

Today was my muh-dikhai. From the morning, Maa and Chachi had been buzzing around, running here and there with last-minute preparations.
Papa and Chachu had left for Venice last night on an urgent business trip.
Saisha was buried under her final-year college assignments, and Rudy… well, Rudy was being Rudy—busy crying over some girl again.

As for Mr. Oberoi, he’d been acting weird all morning—like a newly married wife, nervous and fidgety.

“Ani, if you want to come, you’re welcome, but please don’t behave rudely there,” Maa called out to him.
