A silence gripped the room so tight it hurt.
“I tortured him. For days. I didn’t let him die… not until I was done watching him unravel. He screamed. He cried. He begged. He pleaded with me—his voice cracking, his body shaking—‘Please... kill me.’”
She paused, then whispered: “But I didn’t.”
Her eyes gleamed with a madness that was both beautiful and terrifying.
“Because I didn’t want it to be easy. I wasn’t ready to give him the gift of peace. Not yet. I wanted his death to be a masterpiece... and it was.”
And then, with one last smirk, she delivered the final blow.
“I killed the father in front of his son.”
The silence shattered—some gasped, some covered their mouths, a few staggered back in disbelief. But Nandini stood unfazed.
“And yes,” she added, like a woman casually finishing a tale over tea, “I sent the body back. Wrapped it in memories. Marked it as my closure.”
“My revenge… was over. Truly, finally over,” Nandini said, her voice low but unflinching. Her gaze was distant, as though looking back into the shadows of her past. “There was only one last thread left to cut—Parth.”
She paused, her lips twitching into a small, unsettling smile as her eyes dimmed.
“But that… that moment became the turning point of my life.”
The memory returned in vivid flashes—gunpowder, blood, Anirudh’s horrified eyes.
“I shot him. Parth. Right on his forehead,” she said softly, without drama or remorse. “The man who betrayed me, ruined my plan, was finally gone. But just when I thought I’d feel liberated, the universe played another cruel trick.”
Her eyes lowered, shoulders visibly stiffening.
“Anirudh saw me. He saw it all.”
She swallowed hard. “And he pushed me away.”
For the first time, the edge in her voice softened—just for a breath.
“I cried. Yes. I felt bad. I felt everything crash around me. But then I reminded myself—I didn’t marry him for love. I married him for vengeance. For the destruction of those who wronged me. So maybe… maybe it was good that he walked away. I thought it was fate's way of closing the chapter.”
Her expression wavered just a little before she let a small, melancholic smile play on her lips.
“But fate wasn’t finished with me. Not yet.”
She looked up, her voice trembling with quiet ache.
“I found out I was pregnant.”
A lone tear escaped her eye, gliding silently down her cheek, but she made no effort to wipe it.
“I thought I would raise the baby alone. Build a life with love, without dependence. But… Anirudh came back.”
Her breath caught for a second before she steadied it again.
