‌It was a peaceful night at the Oberoi mansion.

After the riot of laughter and cushion-fights downstairs, the family had slowly retreated to their rooms.
The lights were dimmed, the corridors quiet. Up on the rooftop terrace, the sky stretched wide - navy blue, sprinkled with stars like silver sequins on a velvet saree.

Anirudh stood leaning against the railing. Nandini stepped out barefoot, her hair tied in a loose bun, wearing one of his oversized sweatshirts that hung far past her frame.
She rubbed her arms slightly against the chill.

Without a word, Anirudh stepped forward and gently wrapped a shawl around her shoulders.

Nandini smiled softly, "You always know when I need something."

"That's because... your silence is louder than most people's words."

They stood there for a while, side by side, quietly watching the sky. The breeze ruffled their hair. Far below, the city blinked with tiny amber lights.

Nandini glanced at him. "Do you ever think... how things could've been if life had gone differently?"

"I do. Sometimes. But not because I wish it had. Just to remind myself how lucky I am that it didn't."

He turned to face her fully, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek.
"Every fight. Every storm. Every scar. It brought me to this moment. To you."

Nandini looked into his eyes, her own shimmering with unshed emotion.

Nandini teased lightly. "And here I thought I was the poetic one in this relationship."

"Only when you're yelling at me in Shakespearean rage. 'You traitorous cabbage!' - remember?" He smirked.

She burst into a laugh, covering her face with her hands.
"Oh god! I was emotional and hormonal!"

Anirudh stepped closer. "You still are dramatic, and I still love you madly."

He pulled her into a hug.
A long, quiet hug. Not the desperate kind.
The kind that says, you're home. She rested her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat - the one rhythm in her life that always felt safe.

"I'll never leave your side again, Nandini. Not in this life, not in the next." He murmured into her hair.

"You better not. Or I'll come to haunt you."

He chuckled, "Even as a ghost, you'd be bossing me around."

"Well, someone has to keep you humble, Mr. Oberoi."

And as the wind danced around them and the stars looked on, the two stood there - tangled in warmth, love, and the kind of silence that only soulmates understand.

The clock ticked past midnight, casting sleepy shadows on the walls of the mansion. The world was hushed - too calm for a house that had witnessed chaos, grief, and blood-curdling revenge not so long ago.
