It's so early in the morning and i woke up great. I looked beside me and saw no one was there, where's mr. Oberoi? Gayab ho gaya kiya dharti se? Anyway I should get up and change.

I got out of bed and made my way to the washroom to freshen up. It took me almost an hour to drape the saree properly—Asha aunty always used to help me with these, not that I wore them often anyway.

Stepping out of the washroom, I quickly put on my mangalsutra and began my usual routine—moisturizer, a touch of mascara, and a light swipe of lip gloss.

As I applied the gloss, I noticed Mr. Oberoi walk into the room.

“Oh, you’re awake?”

"No it's my ghost standing here hii"
I mean how dumb he can be early in the morning.
Well it's almost 9am but whatever early for me. But wait when did he got ready? And where did he bathe?

He was heading toward the closet when I stopped him.

“Mr. Oberoi, where did you freshen up? I mean… I know it’s not really my concern, but this is your room and I was in your bathroom so technically—”

He turned slightly, amused. “Calm down, woman. I came in while you were still in the washroom, so I just used the guest room.”

“Oh…” I muttered, pretending to focus on the mirror as I picked up the vermillion and applied it carefully along my hairline.

Damn, I’m actually looking really pretty today. Girl, your groom literally changed at the last moment and here you are acting like this was the plan all along.
Wow. Impressive—

My internal monologue crashed the second I noticed Mr. Oberoi walking toward me.

He was close. Way too close.

My heart skipped a beat as the space between us vanished. I didn’t know where to look or what to do.
Run? Speak? Pretend to faint?

Before I could decide, he was already standing just inches away, and I could feel his breath brush against my neck.

My body froze, breath hitched.

Oh God. Nandini. Stop reacting. Seriously. Just stop.

On reflex, I shut my eyes tightly, bracing for... I don't even know what.

Before I could feel anything the movements stopped, I opened my eyes and saw him smirking at me. Kya gawarpaan hai.

"Kya hai?"

“No, I was just taking this—” he held up the watch from the drawer, smirking like he always does, “—but you were…”

That smug smile again. Ugh. I hate him.

Rolling my eyes, I gave him a light shove, grabbed my phone, and walked out of the room. From the corner of my eye, I could see him trailing behind me, as always.
