The front door clicked softly behind Dr. Kaveri as she stepped out, leaving behind a silence thick with unshed emotions.

Nandini sat still on the couch, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, staring blankly ahead. A single strand of hair fell into her eyes, but she didn’t brush it away.
Her mind was a storm—of memories, fears, and hope she was too afraid to hold.

Omkara’s phone buzzed once. He looked at it instinctively but didn’t open the message. Everyone understood—it was probably Dr. Kaveri, updating him with her observations. But he didn’t say anything.

Not yet.

Instead, he placed his phone aside, knelt in front of Nandini, and gently took her hands in his.

"Nandini," he said softly, "I know this is overwhelming. None of us want to push you into anything. Whatever decision you take, we’ll stand by it. Always.”

Anika nodded, her voice low but sincere. “It’s your body, your life."

"If you don’t want to continue… you don’t owe anyone any explanation.” shivaay said the rest.

“You’ve already been through more pain than anyone should,” Gauri added gently. “If you choose not to go down that road again… no one here will judge you.”

Dadi slowly walked over and placed a hand on her head, her voice filled with warmth and understanding. “What matters is your will, beta. What your heart wants. That’s what we will protect.”

Nandini looked up then—slowly, with tears gathered like tiny pearls in her lashes. Her lips trembled, but when she finally spoke, her voice was steady.

“I want it,” she whispered.

Everyone went still.

She exhaled, then repeated louder, firmer, tears slipping freely now.

“I want it.”

She looked around at all their faces.

“I’m scared,” she admitted, her voice raw. “Terrified, actually. Because last time… it broke me in places I didn’t know existed. But I still want this child.”

She clutched her chest, as if holding her soul together.

“I want to feel that heartbeat again—not as a reminder of what I lost, but as a promise of what I can have. I want the flutters, the kicks, the chaos. I want the sleepless nights and the swollen ankles. I want to dance again with that little heartbeat inside me… without the fear that it’ll disappear.”

She looked up at Anirudh.

“I don’t want to live in fear anymore, Ani. I want to hope again. Even if it terrifies me.”

Anirudh couldn’t hold back anymore.

He rushed to her side and dropped to his knees beside Omkara, his arms going around her waist tightly. No words. Just the way he buried his face into her lap said it all.
